The roll call was to bring an ex ample of block printing for discus- sion. Marilyn Murray, read the minutes of the first meet- ing. 9 Mrs. Murray discussed "Materials on Which to Block "Print"., Mrs. Roulston discussed '"'Methods of Transfetring Design to Block" and "Methods of Print- ing a Design". Mrs.' Murray clis- • cussed "Spreaders". Mrs. Roul- ston discussed "Paints and Inks". The ladies of the Purple Grove Women's Institute held their February meeting last Wednes- day at the "home of Mrs. Bill h pneumonia. When Max was a boy his father Sam owned the old Ripley town, hall as his, place of business. In 1942 beekeeper Elmer Morgan had the old town hall dismantled and rebuilt into the present honey plant with carpenter Jack Wraith of Lucknow in charge* of the building. For Max it was the first time back to. his native village and he had a most enjoyable chat ith the late Roy McGuire whoclearly recall- -ed the Seiden family when they liVed here; and was able to give Max several details. Mrs. John Robertson of Ripley has been a patient in Kincardine and District Hospital following a - recent fall at her home here. Mrs. Robertson, who is nearing her 90th birthday, was badly shaken up but according to reports suffer- ed no bone fracture's. We allwish her recovery, and, return to, her home where she lives with her daughter Christena. Ripley Fire Chief informs us that the next meeting of the Bruce County Mutual Fire Aid Organrza- tion will, be held in Lucknow, in March and that delegates from the Ripley Fire Department have al- ready been appointed. Attending the February meeting in .Chesley were Bob Johnston, Jack MacLean, Alvery Hayes and Clarence Pol- lock. Clover Valley . Artistic 7 . The Clover Valley Artistic "7" 4-H club held their third meeting on Feburary 6th- at the home of • Wendy Hamilton. The meeting opened with the 4-H pledge. The. roll call was answered by each member and each' girl showed the prints they had made from vege- tables. The minutes of the last meet- ing were read by Wendy Hamil- ton. Mrs. Hamilton discussed. "How to make a greeting card" and the use of "Stamp pads". Mrs. Elphick demonstrated "Art Gum Eraser" printing and designs for greeting cards, after which each girl designed and cut an art gum eraser and with a stamp pad printed wrapping paper and paper serviettes. the meeting closed with the 4-H Creed. Paint Puddlers -The Lucknow Paint Puddlers opened' their third meeting with the 4-H Pledge. Kathy Purdon gave the secretary's report. Our financial situation was reported' on by our treasurer Mary Lou Adams. We discussed our, free choice article 'for Achievement Day. ', ' Mrs. Hamilton and Mrs. Conley discussed paints and inks with special emphasis on the stamp pad Designs to be cut from the large art . glint eraser and supplies for the fourth meeting were also diktissed Mrs. Hamilton demonstrated how to paint a design On an art gum eraser and then cut it. The girls then proceeded to make de- signs and print them using a stamp We' closed withthe 4-H Creed. • Both leaders then explained how "Potato Printing" is done. Each zhember then experimented with "Potato Printing". Doodly Dozen The Doodly Dozen met for their third meeting Monday, February 12th in the Lucknow' Central Pub- lic School, The' meeting opened with the Pledge. .12 members answered the roll call "2 types of material on which we can print". The minutes' of the last meeting were adopted as read. The treasurer's report was given by Elaine Whitby. It was decided to buy white bristoI board for the covers. Mrs. Boyle talked about Spread- ers and Paints and Inks.. Mrs. Kreutzweiser described how to Reverse a Design. This week in Group Work the group did. Art Gum Eraser cuts. They used both stamp padsand tempera paint. Designs were put onto bristol board. paper towelling, book marks, stationery and serviettes. - The nieeting closed with the 4-H Creed in unison. Card Party . Dungannon L.O.L. held 'a euchre party.on Thurgday, Feb- ruary 8 with 11 tables, in play. . High prizes for the evening went to Mrs. Art Stewart' for the ladies and Art young for the' men with second high to Mrs. Gordon Martin and Jack Errington.
