all three posts were acclaimed.
It was also the first time that
the warden was acclaimed since
1950 when • Wilfred Adis of Alber-
marle Township was chosen:
Barrett harness and shoe repair
men, Lucknow, , dissolved partner-
ship. The business was continued
by Reg. Barrett.
J. C. Clark purchased the old
cheese factory on the gravel road
north of Lucknow , had the build-
ing torn down and shipped' for •
rebuilding on, his thirty acre
farm near Stratford.
Russell Stanley of Huron Town
ship was acclaimed to a three-
year term on the 'county highways

Mr. Emke , an undertaket ; has •
completed five years as Chesley

Some members ,of Bruce 'County
Council are interested in repatriat-
, ing Bruce Cpunty's tartan and Coat
of arms. • '
Bruce is the only county in Can-
da to have a tartan registered
with the Lord Lion of Edinburgh
and the county now finds that con-
trol of the tartan is in Toronto.
,Bruce County paid for registrar
don of the tartan and for, a time,
a county tartan committee admin-
istered its sale.. Royalties and lic-
ence fees, from sales.went to a
scholarship fund for wards of the
county's Children's Aid Society.
The 1968 county council signed
over rights for, the tartan and coat
of arms to Mrs. Anna Meyer, then
of Wingham but now in Toronto.
Council at that time also sign-
ed over 95 per cent of royalties
and licence fees to Mrs4,Meyer.
The rights are subject to review
by council this year.
The county plaid is an adapta-
tion of that of the Bruce, clan.
The county's,namesake., James
Bruce, was the eighth Earl of
Kincardine and Canada's govern-.
or-general from 1847 to 1854.
