Open house will be held at the new building, thfs Saturday, February 10th, from 2 tg 4.30 p.m. Bank. manager Allan Johnson and his staff have extended an invitation to.all area residents to visit the new bank this Satur- day. Reeve George Joynt of •Luck- , now will cut the ribbon officially opening the new'branch. Roses Will be given to the . first 100 lady visitors. A number of years ago' a major fire, destroyed several places of business from Sanderson's Ladies' and Men's Wear east to Limbach Pharmacy, but not including' these two buildings. Bank of Montreal purchased the•remain• ing land' and for some years it remained unused awaiting the authorization to proceed with the new bank building. The site also becanie famous for itiboard fence and many painted slogans on the fence. , One of these, in support of Tani Henderson, attained national prominence. But the board fence is gone, and Lucknow• 'now has, a modern new „bank building on the, site. The first branch in Lucknow was opened in November 15,,1905, over. 67 years ago and has operat- ed in'the same building,and at the same location for all these years, the former premises of G. A. Siddail, 'a private banker. The Bank of Montreal was originally a branch of the Mol- son's Bank which merged with the Bank of Montreal in 1925.
