Mrs. Morgan Henderson gave
the' Mission Study, introducing the
new study book on. India, the
topic, "Cultural bridgeS". India
has an ancient civilization and a
dense population. Having been
granted independence in 1947 the
government is headed by a prime
minister, and is trying to raise
the standard of living to cope
with their problems.
• Thank you notes for Christmas'
cheer boxes that had been sent to
shut-in membeis were read, also .
a note from Mrs. Hayward of
Orillia ,. in which'she enclosed .
gift of, money for the auxiliary;
ineemory of the late Mrs. Simp-
son, who passed away last year.
A vote of thanks was tendered to
Mr. Noble for his work on the
W. M. S. programmes.
• The aim and purpose of the
Women's Missionary Society was
repeated in unison, the roll. call
was taken, and Mrs. Little gave
the offertory prayer.
The meeting closed by singing
"Oh God of Bethel" and prayer
by Mrs. Noble Johnston.

Circle with Mrs. Harold Austin,
Mrs. Wm. MacIntyre and Mrs.
Donald MacIntyre taking part.

presided for the worship, service •

every month of the year.
The scripture. Was read by 4

Mrs. Garnet Farrier, Mrs. GeOrge
, Thbmpson and Mrs. Russel Chap-

Mrs. Groskorth told of 5 resolu-
tions' for the New Year 1. Look to
Higher things; 2. Imam new
things each day; 3'. Have faith;
4. Pray daily; 5. Break bad •
habits.. Mrs. Lorne Durnin gave a
poem New ,Horizons. Mrs.. "
Moore closed the service with
praygr and presided far the busi-
ness.
A talk was given on India,
pictures were shown from the
January Observer and the work of
the missionaries at Amp Pital
Hospital in Nepal was told. Dr.
Helen Huston is. the United 'Mil=
sionary serving ar this hospital.
A section was lead from the book/
New Horizons, on Indian Women.
A lively discussion followed.
Mrs. George Thompson told of
customs in India.

Church Women met in the
Church parlour' on Tuesday. even-
ing. President Mrs.'Claries
Anderson opened the meeting
with "Take Time to Look
Around in 1973". Fourteen ladies
answered the roll call with short
verses, hiving to do with the
New Year. Mrs. Ken, Cameron6
reported that our total givings
-for-1972-were--$479.
Mrs. George Joynt, gave a call
\to worship which was. fuse' used
by King deorge VI in a Christmas
message, followed by the reading
of Matthew 6: 25-34. Mrs.
,Harold Greer led in prayer. A
New Year's reading "I Can See It
NoW" was given .by Mrs. Clarence
Ritchie and Mrs.' Joynt read "Two
Golden Days"..-.
Mrs. Greer read. "Which Are
You" and "The Perfect Year".
The hymn'"Thank you
O'-Lord for the Time that is now"
was' sling.
Mrs. Bob Nicholls led an inter-7
esting discussion about survival:;.
The group had to decide Which
two of six imaginary passengers
ought to survive anti get a place
in the life-boats of the sinking
Titanic.They 'discussed what
values'about human life come
into consideration when such
decisions must be made.
Mrs. Nicholls led in 'a sing
song and closed with, a benedic- -
tion. Ladies were invited up-
stairs to the manse for lunch.

The first meeting of the New
Year 1973 of South Kinloss W. M.
S was held at the home of Mrs.
Harry Lavis with 15 members
present. The President, Mrs'.
Bruce Hamilton, presided and
opened the meeting with reading
"My New Years Prayer" from the
'Glad 'Tidings. Hymn 374 was,
sung and the•Lorld's Prayer repeat-
ed in unison.
The Bible Study, based on -
Psalm 23, was led by Mrs. Lorne
Sparks , with a Cassette of one
sermon of Dr. De Gangi from a
series 'of Meetings held in• St.
Andrews Church, 'Wingham in
the fall. This wasfollOwed by
the offering and offertory prayer
by Mrs. Ted C011yer.
Mrs. Douglas Graham' intro-
duced the Study on India with a •
•question and answer' period.
Members were reminded of the
Annual meeting of. the Presbyter7
ial to be held in Wingham Tues-
day; January 9th at 10 a.m. ,

Resolutions was the theme of
the Ripley Women's Institute meet
ing held -on Friday in the 'Legion
Hall. '
• Mrs. Liddle , the Convener,
gave a very interesting 'address.
She said we should be encouraged
to form Resolutions and present
them to the Government: Md.
Zaeller, Past President of the
Federated Wornen's Institute of
Ontario, 'has stated that,much has
been accomplished, by Resolutions
presented by our organization.
:The roll call was "A law or.
by-law. 'I, would like to see enforc-
ed or amended". Many different
ideas were given. The Sewing
Course fair the Senior Training
School on Sewing Knits led by
,Mrs. Peet and..Mrs ..Jack Scott
will, begin on January 18th at' Mr:
Peet's home.'
A donation of $10 from the
funds, was donated CO the Canad-
ian Mental Health Asociation.
