• Ontario's Welfare payments will
increase next month for about
half those now in the rolls.

'Social Service Minister, indicat-
ed Ontario will add $16 million
to its welfare expenditures corn-:
mencing January. 1st; 1973, to
give blind, disabled, the•eldqrly
and separated mothers with' child-
ren an average 10%,
increase in,their welfare payments.
' The increase will affect 3/4 of
the-82,000 single people and
families now .on family benefits,
the welfare scheme administered
by the. province.
The Government does not ,have
any immediate plans to increase
the'rates for people on general
welfare ..issistarice, the municip-
ally administered scheme; the lat-
est figures released by the prov,
ince show' a .caselaod of 57;606.
