concession (eliminating deputy

Mr. King agreed there is too
much governmentin 'Bruce
County 6 one county council mem
ber to fewer than 1,000 popula-
tion.
Similarly, he felt
there was also too much govern-

could 'do the council work now
done by, nine.
Mr. Marshall agreed that cut-
backs should start at the local
level. He cited the case of the
local community services Com.-

Walkerton Council has refused
to direct its 1073 deputy reeve
not to attend 'county council' ses-

The decision will probably
thwart Bruce county council's plan
to reduce its size next year from •

municipalities is required to make
the plan work.
Most other towns and townships
have agreed to go along with the
cutback.
Reeve J. ,P. Johnstone and Dep-

the only members of Walkerton
council to endorse the cutback.
