our lunch: When we got to the
Science Centre at 1.15, a guide,
gave us: a short . briefing. The
class was then divided into two
groups. Mrs. Mar*rook one
group and Mr. Armstrong took the
other. We went to nine, differ-
ent exhibit areas'. They were
the Science Arcade !Transporta-
tion, Engineering, Oil and Gas,
CommunicatiOn, Life, Canadian
Resources, Canadian North, and
Space. Both groups ended up at
the bus about 6.00. We stopped
at Mahon for supper. We arriv-
ed home at 10.00 p.M., our •
appointed deadline. So we .
didn't do too badly. On Thurs-
day, there sure were some tired
lobking people in, the senior end.
L would like to thank Mrs. Mart-
yn , Mx. Armstrong and of course
Mr. Stanley who also had •a hand
in the planning;. Thanks again! MY PLAY EXPERIENCE: by _Pala
Culbert
Have you, every wondered how
a live play was, performed? Well
yesterday I experienced this. A
group; from the National Arts
Centre-in-Ortaw-a-t-aiight-me-. -T-he-
play cdlled The Creation was
based on masks and clowns. I
had a front seat and I saw every-
thing. I enjoyed it thoroughly.
'TRIP TO TORONT0_,,;_b_y__Shelley
Milatz
' On Wednesday, November 15,
the Grade 7 class went for a trip
to Toronto to see the Royal Winter
Fair, Maple Leaf. Gardens .and the
Toronto.Airport. The classes
left at 6.15 a.m. and returned
-at 10.00 p'.m. •
We first went to the Royal
WiriterFair: We saw maridif-.
ferent things such as different
kinds Of cattle, horses, swine,
sheep, goats, and poultry as well
as many animals. We also saw
farin equipment, snowmobiles,.
ski equipment, house trailers,
buses..
At the Toronto International
Airport,, we saw many different
makes and models of airplanes.
Do you• know the difference be-
tween a DC-8 and a DC-9? Well.
I guess I'd better tell you. The
DC-8. has two engines on each'
.wing, the' DC--9 has just two en-
gines on the tail. The DC-9 is '
also a, smaller aircraft seating
o - y
passengers where the DC-8 carries
as•many as one hundred and thirty-
three passengers.
After the airport we saw the
Maple Leaf Gardens. The seating
capacity of the Gardens is' 16,316
to as many as 16.455. They also
have, rock and roll festivals and ,
for this they can have 18,000 -
people. For this many seats they
put chairs on the rink surface. TO
To rent this gigantic building-it
would be approximately, thirty to
fifty dollars per hour. Bilt if you
were to put the colour lights on,
-it-costs-up-to--3-thousand ---
dollars. There are many' kinds of
seats. There are the seats which
are cushioned, blue, green . grey
and ringside seats. As you enter
the Gardens they have pictures
of the Toronto•Maple Leafs and
the years they won the Stanley
Cup. The TorontoJeam has
won the cup for eleven different
years. .That's about all I have to
tell you about the three places we
visited,
All, the Grade 7's give great
thanks to the two teachers which
p arm• t e trip, Mr. F.-Stanley,
our principaf, and Mrs. Hender-
son. Once again we all give
thanks to both teachert,

THE PLAY; by Shelley Farrell
Yesterday, Grade four went to
the Ripley District High School
to see a play called the Creation.
The first .part was made up of
clowns. One creature jumped,
right Out in front of me. I liked
the clown part 'because, I could
not understand the first part. The
actors were from the National
Arts Centre in Ottawa.
