said the responsibility for dealing
_with Government cutbacks for
Ontario hospital construction-and, '
grants for active treatment beds
was solely up to local administra-
tions and board of governors.

tion Leader Rbbert Nixon accused
Dr. Potter of initiating a grand
policy that reflects "the most
atrocious kind of waste of public
funds or ..the worst possible kind
of planning".

that what the Ministry w,a's saying
was that there are approximately
1200:4500 active treatment beds
that are not: necessary at the
present time for the proper care
of patients.

-announced a $50 million winter
works programme geared to prod-
uce approximately 29,000 tempor-
ary jobs during the peak
unemployment months.
This year's spending will con-
centrate on the•MunicAptal Em-
ployment Incentive Programme,,
This programme provides 10010
grants to local governments for
hiring tempoary workers who
would otherwise be receiving ,
wefare or unemployment insurance
payments. The programme will .
commence December 1st and run
to May 31st ,,1973.

and funding of labour intensive
