He never remembered how he • came to .be in the ditch near Nile, about twelve miles south of Luck- now and local provincial police weren't sure whether he was a victim of a traffic accident or a beating. The accident occurred about 3 a.m. as the man was hitch-hik- ing home. He was awarded general dam- ages of $45,900* and out-Of-pock- et expenses of $17,417. His 90- per-cent share amounts to $56,164. Mr. •Murphy said Mr. Young . is unable to do any type of mech- anical Work or anything requiring full use of the hands,., Mr. Young is enrolled in a rehabilitation training program at Fanshawe. • • With his crippled hands he is gable to-do-only-clemcal-work r-Mr-, Murphy said. After the accident, police searched the surrounding area for any clue as to what happened to the victim. They, 'turned up bloodstains on the highway and Mr. Young's broken watch and package of cig7 arettes:in-the-ditCh. • - Police messages across the province failed to •turn up any leadt-from vehicle repairshops-. - Mr. Murphy said that from July 9, 1970 ,:until August 24 Mr. -Younvinderwent-64-psychotherapy treatments.
