Well it happened again. The
snow returned -early last Sunday
morning. Wet snow at that ,
clinging to everything, so that it
made a Christmas scene arcs also
a reminder of the four or 'more
months of it ahead. Up. to Sun-

Miss Sandra MacCharles and I
her girl friend are, on a vacation 1
tour in Europe. Sandra, a grad-
uate nurse from Victoria Holpita-
in London, is the, ciaughter of Mrs.
Noreen MacCharks in Ripley and
her grandmother- Mrs. Walter
Walden also lives in the village.
Presently Sandra and her friend
are in Spain.

Ripley last. Thursday for fort
Erie and their new home. Dr. P.
H. H. (Pete) Eiissonnette has been
down there since early October
when he joined the customs in- '
speetion branch of the Dominion
Department of Agriculture. D.
G. (Dinnie) MacDonald purchas-
ed. Pete's house in Ripley and is
moving from the Lloyd Wyld's
farm south of Ripley. -The real
estate transaction leias.handled by
the Lloyd Hutton Agency of Kin-
cardine.

The annual Gord Emmerton. Cur-
ling bonspiel was held last Satur-
day , starting early in the morn-
ing, at the Ripley Curling Arena.
Winner of the trophy this year was
a team headed by Clarence
P011ock of Ripley. Besides the
Emrnerton.families, friends Mr.
and Mrs. Norman Crozier of
Sarnia are 'strong supporters and
were, up this year, as in past years
-to-take -part in the-bonspiel. In
past years Gord was the pitcher
on that great Pine River Softball
team and now takes part in•bowl-
ing and Curling. After the bon-
spiel the forty-fout present gath-
ered at the. Ripley Legion Hall
where they were served dinner by
the Legion Auxiliary.

In the last Wednesday, Novem-
ber 22, edition of the Toronto
Daily-Starr , there-was-an_article_
of special interest to many
people in the Ripley area. • It was
-date lined from New York City--
and the heading was "Canadian
tenors,in Met's line-up".
It went on to' state that two
Canadian, born singers, Jon Vick-
ers and Louis Quilico, will have
the major roles in five perform-
ances•of Verdi's opera Otello,
opening December 5 at the Met-
