' On Monday evening , last', Mrs.
Len Elmes opened her home to the
ladies of the lower second, who
Met to-honour-Mis•s-Beverleylan-
isse , prior to her marriage. Sev-
eral contests were conducted and
then Beverley, who was seated in
a decorated chair, opened her
many lovely gifts. She thanked,
all the ladies for coming and
especially Mrs°. Elmes and Mrs.
Elmer Smelt2er for -arranging the
shower. Lunch was then served
and a social hour enjoyed.
Chapman who, had been at Vic-
toria Hospital returned home 'with
them-;---whileivirs;-Groskorth-re-
tnained to visit with Mr. and Mrs.
Jim Moffat, Heather and Ansley
until. Thursday.
Mr. and Mrs. Walter Moore
and family were at Walkerton
Hospir.A. Friday evening where
they visited with her mother Mrs.
Gertrude Moore.
Mrs. Jim Taylor was in London
at Victoria Hospital on Friday
where she found her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Russel Ross, as well as

We are sorry to report that Mrs.
George Thompson was admitted
last Tuesday to Wingharthand
District Hospital, where she later
underwent surgery. pn Sunday
Miss Lila Emerson was admitted.

This community was sorry to
learn that Oscar. Schefter, a form-
er'resident of this community who

had his right hand injured in 'a
corn picker and had to, be re-
moved to Victoria Hospital,
London. All wish Oscar a speedy
recovery.
We are pleased to report that
Donald England was able, to re-
turn horte on Friday after spend-,
ing a week at, Victoria Hospital.

Brownies To 14010
Childreffs. Aid
The Brownies began their meet-
ing on November 21st with Snowy
Owl conducting several games,
two of them were "Freeze" and
"One, Two, Three':
Darlene Howald was Fairy
Queen for Brownie Ring and the'
Brownies hopped' their Fairy Gold.
We closed Brownie Ring with
Brownie Prayer..
At Pow Wow we sang Happy
Birthday to Nancy Thompson and
Anne Alton .. The four Brownies
wi) visited the Guide meeting
last week told the. Pack about the
meeting. All the Brownies are
to try and bring a Christmas Gift
to be sent on to the, Children's
Aid'Society at Goderich. Barbara
Hackett showed a scrapbook about
the vegetables she had grown in
her garden' this summer. Brown
Owl asked Darlene Howald, Suz-
anne Kirkland and Betty Stanley
-to-practice_making tea and toast '
at home for one of their tests.
Anne Alton showed her scrapbook
she had made towards her Toy-
Maker Badge.
During work period several
Brownies passed their test for rules
of courtesy and ,gettnr-
ready for the mail when they
were tested by Brown Owl. Anita
Quay; and Lisa Peterson passed
their test for singing 0 Canada
and God Save The Queen to
Snowy Owl. Tawny Owl watched
the Tweenies while the brushed
and combed their hair and then
had them learning how to tie a
Brownie tie.
We closed our meeting with
Taps.
AMBERLEY
Two little first cousins arrived
in our community this week - just
one day apart! Mr. and Mrs.
Perrin Lowry became parents to a
new baby son Thursday morning
Wingham Hospital, and on
Friday morning a baby boy was
born to Mr. and Mrs. Wayne
Lowry in Kincardine Hospital.

Mr. and Mrs. Bill Mackay of
Waterloo and Gail Miller of Kin-
cardine visited on Saturday with.

Purple Grove Women's Institute
served supper to the Ripley Lions
Club on Wednesday at the Corn-
munity Centre.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Robertson
visited on Saturday with friends
and relatives in Guelph,.

Amberley, enjoyed the weekend
in Toronto visiting with friends.
