Mrs.' Drennen opened the Meeting with prayer and hymn 496. The scrip- ture reading from John 3, verses 16 to 18 followed. Mrs. 'Logten'- berg and Mrs. Drennen told about justice in Africa fact's about the peop e , a rid-thiTiiiiiAEica does not . exist, more exactly, there are man_y A frica,s Mrs. Clarence McClenighan gave a talk on "Dr. Sidney Gil- christ" a medical missionary in Africa for thirty-nine years,, his work there, his wonderful person- ality,. and the tragic death of his wife, himself,,and then mis- sionary daughter, in a car accid- ent in western Canada. Everyone sang"He's Got The Whole World In His Hands" using -appropriate- words pertaining to the African people. The roll call was answered by showing or telling of a product of Africa. Mrs: Art Elliott. donated a lovely quilt top and a large tea pot to our U,C.W.. Mrs. Mel Reed is donating a plaque to be placed on the' piano in the Church basement. Mrs. 'Nelson Pearson gave as the "Feature" a humorous reading entitled "The Norninating Com- mittee". Our meeting closed ,with every- one repeating the benediction. A delicious lunch and social time followed, with Mrs. Fred young, Mrs. Don McKenzie and Mrs. Cecil /Culbert as *hostesses . The U.C. Mrs. Ritchie reviewed the'rneetings. Ruth and Dorothy boiled brussels sprouts and put a cheese cream' sauce., Jeanne and Mary Eadie demon- strated preparing parsnips., They put butter salt and pepper on' them. Marilyn and Mary MacKinnon demonstrated eggplant casserole. We ate -the vegetables and were liked by most of us.
