The Bruce County .Milk Com-
mittee are planning what should
be a very interesting "Bus Tour",
for Wednesday,-116-e-eniber 13th.
It is hoped that a good many
"iry_fammers and their • wives
will take advantage of this ex-
cellent opportunity.
All of the milk producers in
the county have, or will shortly
have,' a letter 'from their County
Milk , Committee, outlining the
details of the tour.
The day's agenda will include
a tour ,of the Elora Research'
a Station, tour of the Central Milk
rAptira_Lab in
and a SiiiiiiglibcW'beerlin
ner. The buses will return to the
County by • 4‘.00 p.m. that after-
noon. In order to makb this tour
appealing to a large number
producers, the County Milk Com-
mittee are, subsidizing 'the e pro- ject and the total cost per person
for the tour and the meal will be
a mere VZ:00.
At the Research Station in
Elora, the • roducers will have
an opportunity to serve groups
of •cows held under different
housing systems; cows under dif-
ferent rations .and feeding sys-
tems; and• compare their pro-
duction and health. Varying calf
holding facilities can also be com-
pared!
At the Central Milk Testing
Laboratory (IRMA), produeers
will....see_how_the_sample of milk
colleattd-from their-slupments-is
handled, tested and recorded. The
safety, factors used in the testing
procedure, to assure a .414 and
accurate result 'of the sample be-
ing tested, will be explained and
demonstrated. ,
Buses will be leaving •the first
pick-up points at 9:00 a.m. and
should return -to that point by
5:00 p:m. Check your letterfrom
the County Milk Committee, and
meet the bus arthe'closest point
to your farm.
What has become the Annual
Grey-Bruce Farmers' Week, will
be again held this coming Jan-
uary. The Dairy Day program
will be held Thursday, January,
11th, and another .interesting
group of, speakers has been as-
sembled for that -day.
