There was lots of laughter and
good fellowship in the St.
Andrew's Church /Hall when the
Ripley , History Group held a
crokindle social. Mrs. John A.

result of the vote 'held 'by the
Government of P.E.I. announced
October 18,' Was 415 in favour as
against, 233 opposed 'to collec-
tive bargaining Tor pbtatoes
through the 'N. F. p.
"The vote ha.s been positive",
N..F. U. President Roy 'Atkinson
said in we4coming the result.
P.E.I. potato proClucers have
given the Government a clear
directive. Legislation certifying
the N.F.U. as bargaining agent
now requires passing at the next
session of the Legislature. ,
The P. vote is the_first
significant breakthrough in the ,
N.F.U.'s campaign to win certi-
fied bargaining rights for Canad-
ian farmers. ,
This vote in favour 'of collec-
tive bargaining through the.
Union•followed a rejection 'by
the potato producers of P.E.I. of
a proposal for .'a commodity mark- •
ding board submitted to a pleb -
iscite earlier this year.
Farmers can haVe collective
bargaining if they organizeser-
iously for it.

Whitechurch Salad_Qu-eens held
their 7th meeting on Friday
evening November 17th at the
home of assistant ' leader. Mrs.
Elmer Sleightholm.
Janet Adams president opened
the meeting with the 4-H pledge
repeated in unison. The
minutes were read by. Kathy Wy-
benga. The roll call•was answer
ed by the 10 members telling one
new vegetable which was new to
them.
•Discussion centered on plans
for Achievement Day at Lucknow
on December 16 at' the School.
The project was reviewed.
The books are to be handed in the
end of November. Janet Adams
demonstrated the making of egg
plant patties. In Group• Work all
_worked on 'their book covers.
All tasted the egg plant patties.
The meeting closed with all
repeating the 4-H Creed.
