GEORGE HACKETT
The death of George Alexand- -
er Hackett of Cochrane occurred
suddenly following a, coronary. on
Sunday, November 5th at the •
home of his brother-in-law, Pet-
er Cooke of Lucknow ,-where he
had been visiting.
Mr. Hackett was born in Ash-
field Township on February 10,
1897, a son of Andrew Hackett
and Martha Webster.
Iri 1922 he married Sadie
Cooke and went north to
Cochrane to live. They cele-
brated their 50th wedding anniv-
ersary this summer at a •gathering
in Cochrane and also received
honourable mention at the Web-
ster Picnic in june,
Mr. Hackett farmed from 1920-
1962. He then became Federal
Seed Inspeetor and Provincial
Produce Inspector, retiring.two
years ago.
He was:an active mernber in
St. Paul's United Church arid a•
member of session for at least
twenty years.. In January of this
year he retired from active ses-
sion• duty and was mode an lion-
ourary life member.
Mr. Hackett is survived by his
wife Sadie, and 'a family of David
and MrS. Egon (Irene) Finderson,
both of Cochrane and Mrs, Frank
(Mary) Harrison of Connaught;
also two brothers Harry of Luck-
now and William of Meaford. •
The funeral service was con
ducted 'on Tuesday, November ,
7th at MacKenzie Memorial
Chapel', LucknOw. Rev. Murray
13insteacl of Parry Sound, a former
minister for several years at
Cochrane, conducted the service.
The pallbearers were D. A.
Hackett and Alvin Hackett of
Ashfield Township, Tom and Ray
Cooke of Goderich, Lorne -and
Ivan Cooke of Lucknow and Rip-
ley.
Interment was in Greenhill
Cemetery.
