Mrs. W. p. Hunter welcomed
sixteen members of Uiiit 3 of
Lucknow United Church Women
and one visitor, at her home on
November 7.
Mrs. Gordon Kirkland presided,
and opened the meeting with a
verse "The Love of God". Hymn
434, was sung and 'the,Lord's
Prayer repeated in unison. The
roll call was answered with a
verse on Peace.
Mrs. Ron Alton reported for
the sOcial committee and made
arrangements for lunch to be
served following the Thankoffer-
ing meeting Thursday , November,
9th. A' gift and offering was
received for the Victor Horne for
Girls.
Mrs. W. G. Hunter reported
for Community Friendship and
Mrs. Lawrence McLeod gave the
treasurer's report. Members are
reminded to bring the Christmas
stockings to the December meet-
Sunday School Hold
Achievement Night
The annual pot-luck supper and
Sunday School achievement night
of the Langside Presbyterian •
Church was held 'Monday evening
in the Langside Hall.
After an enjoyable supper,
Elmer Scott, the Sunday School
Superintendent, opened the
programme with hymn singing by
everyone. Mr. Arnold Scott
read the scripture and Elmer Scott
led in prayer,' Nancy de Boer's
and Helen Wiersma's classes gave
a number, singing mak/ of their
f3,V write Bible 'songs ,doing them
to *actions.
The C.O.C. group then gave a
rousing singsong, Mrs. George
Young's clase•did a skit. entitled
"Langide Old -Testament News".
Mr. Philip Steer's class did a skit
which one of his class members,
WilmA Visser, had written.
Bill Bates showed beautiful
slides of a trip to Florida and
Nassau which he and Mrs. Bates..
had enjoyed a few-years_aga._,
Each teacher then gave their
class members their av4a ids for
attendance and work done this
year. Russell Young presented
the seals and pins. Elmer Scott
presented Jo-anne., Hilda and
Freddie de Boer with perfect
affelidarieelifts.
The pleasant evening closed
with, a hymn and the Lord's Pray-
er in unison.

Thankoffering on November 9,
The Vice President Mrs. Raynard
Ackert cot—id-Me e -the-meeting.
Mrs. Ackert extended a warm
welcome to all who were present.
Hymn 19 was sung. Unit 4 was in
charge of devotions.
Mrs. Ernest Ackert read a
passage from Psalm 92 and then
read an articletelling us of all
the things -for which we should be
thankful. :Mrs. George Jardine
led in prayer. -
Marion Johnstone and Cather-
Me Dunsmuir accompanied by
Mrs. Gordon Montgomery sang
two lovely duets which were
Thank You and Amazing Grace
Rev. R. G., Nicholls introduced
the guest speaker, -Rev. James
Stockton who was a missionary
in Zambia. Rev. Stockton re-
turned from Zambia this year and
is now minister of the Arthur
Pastoral Charge.
Rev. Stockton told about the
history of Zambia and also the
location. tie spoke about the
leaders of the government and
-mentioned that they were prod-
ucts of the Mission, Schools.
Many interesting slides of the
area were shown. Pictures of
Victoria Falls, Modern 'Churches,
schools with thatched roofs were
among those shown.

meeting closed with the Mizpah
Benediction.

Mrs. Wilbur Brown was hostess
for the November meeting of Unit
1 of the United CturCh Women.
The theme of the meeting was
"Remembrance" and Mrs. E. W.
Rice, president, opened the meet-
ing reading a poem, "Let there
by Peace" and' singing hymn 254.
Scripture reading Luke 9, 1 - 17
was read by Mrs. Howard Barger
and devotional reading 'by Mrs,,
Vernon Hunter. A poem, "The
Lord's Compassion" was read by
Mrs. Clarence Irwin.
Mrs. Ross ShielLs introduced the
study book, "Ask an Indian about
India" and gave a very informa-
tive talk on Chapter 1, telling of
the educational, health and in-
dustry in The most densely populat-
ed country in the world. •
Mrs. Grace Campbell gave, a
readnig, "In Flanders' Fields".
'Hymn 401 was sung and Mrs. w.
Bolt led in prayer. •
Mrs. Bolt reported- on the fowl
supper which showed a good profL
it and Mrs. Grace Campbell for,
Christian Education read "He's My
Brother".
Plans were made for the Thank-
offering meeting November 9 and
for the Farrier family dinner on
November 18.
