• GRADE ONE
We had our Hallowe'en party.
Mr. Stanley helped judge our
Costumes. Barbara Scott was
first , Ronnie Rock was seeotul, -
Melanie Miller was third. It was
fun dressing up. We
bobbed for apples and some of us
even got our faces wet.
We have our Readers to keep in
our desk. Reading is fun and we
:must remember to practise 'our
words at home.

contests, a peanut scramble,.
and a delicious lunch. The only
unhappy time during the party
-was-when lu-lie-dressed-as-a bride ,
fell into the tub of cold water
used for the apple-bobbing con-
test.-

Our class had a Hallowe'en
Party on October. 31. We had a
balloon race with candy prizes
for the' winning, jeam. Some
bobbed for apples in a tub of wat-
er. Mr. Armstrong's Grade Sevz.
en class joined us for a dance in
our classroom. The girls made, a
lunch for two people and the boys
bought them. We-made $4.25
and it•went to U.N.I.C.E.F.

MRS. JAMES DURNIN
The death of Mrs. James .burn-
in of Lucluiow occurred on Mon-
day, October 30th in Wingham -
and District Hospital in her 71st
'year.
She was born in Kincardine
on June 5, 1902, a daughter of
William J. Luxton and Catherine
Wardell.
On November 17, 1928 she
married James Durnin of West
Wawanosh, where they farmed
on the 9th concession and some
twelve years ago moved to Luck-
now , 'where they have resided on
Havelock Street South.
Besides her husband Mrs. Durn-
in is survived by one sister Mrs.
R. (Helen'Marie) Lautenslager of
Kincardine.
The funeral service was held
at MacKenzie Memorial Chapel,
Lucknow on Wednesday,-
November 1st. Rev. George Gar-
rett of St. Peter's' Anglican
Church, Lucknow, of which the
deceased was a member, was min
ister.

Interment- was in Kincardine _
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Albert Taylor,
Bill Radon, Joe Foran, Don Mur-
ray, Allan Hackett, George McIn-
nes.
3 entries in class No. 1, which •
was for the horse-plowman. Class--
No. 9, for Reeves, was won by
Bruce Parker. ;Archie
McKinnon of Culross was unable
to attend.

Donny Meppelder leaves us this
week for Sarnia. Sorry to see you
go Donny.
We all love a soccer game.
Our class tied with Pine River in
a very exciting game on Tuesday.
Hallowe'en really brought out
the witches and goblins in our
community. ti

Christmas program.

The Ontario; Plowmen's Assoc -
iati6n has recently announced
I that the 1976 International Plow-
ing match will' be held in Bruce
County. Bruce County Plowinen's
Association has several farm loc-
ations available fram• which the
ProvinCial Association will, in
the near. future, choose a site.
With thiS thought in mind , the,
Bruce County Plowmen'S Assocfa-
bnned-andheld--a-s-uccessful-
match and 'coaching day on Satur-
day, October .14. This is the third
time that this event was held on
the "Cotter" farm located just
West 'of Chesley. Soil conditions
for plowing were eXcellent with'
much straw Cover to make compe-
tition more difficult.
PreSident Don- McAllister was
chairman for the banquet which
followed in the Presbyterian
Church.- Warden Harvey Davis
and Progressive Conservative
candidate John Loney spoke to"
the group.
The new County banner which
was arranged and designed by
Ian Grant and Bill Sewers, both of
Culross, was on display.
The banner measures approxim-
ately 6 x 8 feet with each end
made of the County's tartan with
a map. and a plow in 'the back-
ground.
The white coloured Centre
bears the county's slogan "Bruce
Beckons, Come Mix in '76". A
contest in the county's schools

some 86 entries: Ray and Bern-
ard Cotter carried this banner 'on
September 27th when the Teeswat
er Highlanders led the parade at
Sebringville.
