It is named the Bonnie Scotland Cal- endar featuring 24 different scenes in Scotland. It was sent by Mrs. Osborne, a friend of Mrs. Nellie MacLeod in Ripley , and a visitor with Mrs. MacLeod last summer. She lives in the town of Kihnalcolm near Paisley and Glasgow and north of. Ayrshire. On the last page it gives the cal- endar dates for the years 1972, 1973 and 1974. The nearest view to Lewis Island is that of Loch. Gairloch, on the west coast of the county of Ross and Cromarty. ---The-Loch-is--hoted-for boarin bathing, fishing and wonderful scenery. There is also the village of Gairloch at the east end of the Loch. * r * 7 * Last.. Friday: and Saturday an Arts and Crafts display was held in the Armouries in London. At the Store operated by Mr. and Mrs. Lawri James, they along with clerk Mrs. Grace Murray and Mrs. James Sr. , are offering hot coffee, hot dogs, sandwiches, and other lunch items. To do this Lawri 'has had new equip ment installed in the bakery section operated by his mother. This service is well accepted following the' plosing of Albert Verheye's Ripley rest- aurant. patient. • * 4 .51 • :Miss Mary Forster, :daughter of Mr. and Mrs, Walter Forster, is recovering from painful bruises suffered last Thursday morning when She Was struck down in Sarn- ia. Mary was on her way to, attend morning'classes at the 'col- lege when the accident took place She was using the cross walk at a stoplight when a motorist, not seeing her, crashed her to the pavement. Mary was taken to Sarnia hospital where it was established that her hip was not fractured. Her parents received the startling news and immediate- ly went to Sarnia. Wheji, Mary was released from hospital, they home.,Ripley area friends extend their wishes for her recovery. Last Saturday the ladies of St. Andrews Uniied Church,. Ripley, held their annual fall bazaar, They hada very_good crowd con- sidering the chilly drizzling rain falling most of the afternoon. The bake sale was quickly sold out. The'bazaarfeatured aprons pil- low cases, quilts and other, needle- work, also flowers and vegetables. There was also a novelty counter.
