nesday afternoon; October 18th.
The President Mrs. Don Robertson
presided and gave the Call to
Worship: Mrs. Glen Haldenby was
organist and suitable hymns were
sung.

Mrs. Glen Haldenby read the
missionary story. Readings were
given by Mrs. Jim Lowry of
Ripley , Mrs. Kenneth MacDonald
of Teeswater Mrs. Frank Mauld-
en and Miss May Boyle of Kin-
lough.
Mrs. Ewan MacLean of Ashfield
was the guest speaker and gave a "
most interesting talk on thankful-
ness. Mrs. Lyman Sutton thank-
ed Mrs. MacLean and presented
her with a gift.

The October meeting of the St.
Helen's United Church Women
was held at the home 'of Mrs.
Margaret Black. Mrs. Mintz was
in charge of the worship service.
Fifteen ladies answered the roll
call with a Thinksgiving verse.
The scripture lesson was read by
lifss. B. F. Green.
The topic on "India" was
taken by Mrs. Tom Todd. Read-
ings were given by Isobel Miller,
Mrs. Sheldon Martin, Mrs. Don
Cameron, Mrs. John Cameron
-and-Mrs.-Frank McQuillin.,_
Mrs. Gordon lvlacPherson gave
a report on the Presbytery meet-
ing she attended. Mrs. Don
Cameron reported on the plans for
a Mission Festival at' Dungannon
United Church on. November 5 at
8.30 p.m. Delegates were ap-
pointed to attend the Huron-Perth
Presbyterial U.C. W. meeting at
Brussels. Anyone wishing a
church, calendar for 1973 may
order -one .
Miss W. D. Rutherford closed
the meeting with prayer. Lunch
was served by Mrs. John Cameron
and MrS. Don Cameron. I •

Evening Auxiliary
The regular meeting of the
Lucknow Presbyterian Evening .
Auxiliary was held Tuesday of
' -weeklast in the Fellowship room
of the Sunday School with 18
members present and one y.
visitor.
Mrs. Lloyd 'Moffat, president
in charge, opened the meeting
with a poem. Hymn 582 was
sung, "0 Master let me walk
with thee". The Scripture and
Meditation was given by Mrs.
Bill Ross. The W. M.S. Purpose
was repeated and the roll call
answered . The ininutes,of the
st meetin: were read. The
offering was received. •
The topic entitled "The White
man comes back to Black Africa"
was presented by Mrs. Jack
Fisher. Mrs. Donelda Scott
favoured the group with three
selections on the accordion, two
new hymns, from the new Hymnal
coming out for the Presbyterian
c rch and Amazing Grace.
The closing hymn was 600, Lead
Kindly Light and Mrs. Moffat
closed-:with-prayer. A- unch and
social time followed.

No act of kindness is so small that
it does not deserve thank you. 'It
is easy'to be thankful when all
goes well. Jesus promised
comfort. She gave a poem Thank-
ful and said to have wisdom and
maturity to accept any situation
and be thankful.
Mrs. Wallace Conn thanked
Miss Ballagh and presented her
with 'a gift. Mrs. Garnet Farrier

subject was "Joy In The Lord".
Mrs. Grant Farrish thanked the
guest and presented her with a

Pentland, Mrs. C. 'Blake read the
scripture passages from
Luke• 19: 11-27 and Psalm
100. The two leaders then read,
"Remembering the Past" from the
clip sheet. •

Mrs. Reed related many inter
esting , facts about the history of
our churches in the community
and the first women to organize
the W. M.S. in 1888. Also she .
gave information on our 95 •year
old cemetery and , showed us an
original deed written in 189'0, the
natures deserving special notice.
Mrs. Leonard. Ree, a sing-
song using the eight favourite
hymns-in the Observer_ from the
new Hymn Book, Mrs. Clarence •
McClenaghan received and dedic
ated.the offeringe, She 'also read
an account of "Molly Welsh" , a
pioneer 'forgotten lady who had
come outfrom Ireland around

was interesting.

Rintoul welcomed all the ladies.
She opened the meeting with a
poern`Fraise Thee. Prayer was
given by. Mrs. Victor Emerson.
Mrs. 'Victor Wybenga read the .
scripture and gave the meditation
expressing thanks for work and
joy-and-for :flail bread
Miss Yvonne Ballagh, the guest
speaker of Wingham, who works
at the office of the Advance
Times and at the Wingham Hospit-
al.
. Miss Ballagh thanked Mrs.
Conn for her words of introduc-
tion. •She said ThanksgiVing is.,
one day set aside out 'of 365 days
to give thanks to God. We ask
God for courage , help and
strength.,
How true of us! We take God
for granted' and yet we teach the
baby to say to-ta, which is thanks
for what they receive. We,call
our•selves Christians yet how many
times a month do we thank God?
We keep asking-for-more-and -- -
more, because the more some -
one does for us the more we want
never satisfied. Some folks don't •
want help from God they would
rather go their own way. Yet
