Mrs. Johnston Conn introduced St. Helens UCW The October meeting of the St. Helen's United Church Women was held at the home 'of Mrs. Margaret Black. Mrs. Mintz was in charge of the worship service. Fifteen ladies answered the roll call with a Thinksgiving verse. The scripture lesson was read by lifss. B. F. Green. The topic on "India" was taken by Mrs. Tom Todd. Read- ings were given by Isobel Miller, Mrs. Sheldon Martin, Mrs. Don Cameron, Mrs. John Cameron -and-Mrs.-Frank McQuillin.,_ Mrs. Gordon lvlacPherson gave a report on the Presbytery meet- ing she attended. Mrs. Don Cameron reported on the plans for a Mission Festival at' Dungannon United Church on. November 5 at 8.30 p.m. Delegates were ap- pointed to attend the Huron-Perth Presbyterial U.C. W. meeting at Brussels. Anyone wishing a church, calendar for 1973 may order -one . Miss W. D. Rutherford closed the meeting with prayer. Lunch was served by Mrs. John Cameron and MrS. Don Cameron. I • • Presbyterian Evening Auxiliary The regular meeting of the Lucknow Presbyterian Evening . Auxiliary was held Tuesday of ' -weeklast in the Fellowship room of the Sunday School with 18 members present and one y. visitor. Mrs. Lloyd 'Moffat, president in charge, opened the meeting with a poem. Hymn 582 was sung, "0 Master let me walk with thee". The Scripture and Meditation was given by Mrs. Bill Ross. The W. M.S. Purpose was repeated and the roll call answered . The ininutes,of the st meetin: were read. The offering was received. • The topic entitled "The White man comes back to Black Africa" was presented by Mrs. Jack Fisher. Mrs. Donelda Scott favoured the group with three selections on the accordion, two new hymns, from the new Hymnal coming out for the Presbyterian c rch and Amazing Grace. The closing hymn was 600, Lead Kindly Light and Mrs. Moffat closed-:with-prayer. A- unch and social time followed. we knoii no one can live himself.. We ask God for courage , help and strength., How true of us! We take God for granted' and yet we teach the baby to say to-ta, which is thanks for what they receive. We,call our•selves Christians yet how many times a month do we thank God? We keep asking-for-more-and -- - more, because the more some - one does for us the more we want never satisfied. Some folks don't • want help from God they would rather go their own way.
