We all enjoyed Thanksgiving _ Holiday and are 'now busy collect- ing fall leaves and looking for signs of winter coming. Everyone is excited about 'moving into our new "portable" classroom which arrived this week. • • • -HE 40 FROM GRADE 0311E: We had our Thanksgiving dinner on Friday. We had turkey to eat. The girls that are now cheerleaders are / Heather Boyle,' Lois Rooney, Bev Scott , Kiin MacFadden, Lori Cad don, and Patti McLean.. They will "havepractises every wee"--!-- started going to the Library. It is fun to pick out our very own book:' Soon it will be Hallowe'en. We Can hardly. Wait ,for Ghost Time! Visit Relatives In Holland on Saturday morning. 'The lead- ers are Mrs. Glenn Boyd and _Mrs. Ernie Gibson. The Explorer girls also formed the Choir for Church services op. Sunday singing the anthem 'Try a Little Kindness". All-mem-herand4ri•ends--in the-v- Pine River congregation are re- -. minded of the special services to be held this coming Sunday, Oct- ober 22nd. Since this is Church Week, special music ; films and - other activities will be presented and a good attendance is anticip- ated. A social hour will follow / the Services. There will be a workshop. on November 6th from 10 a.m. til 4 p.m. (on .the Institute hand book) in the 'Holyrood hall. The earlier bus trip which had to be cancelled , was left over until 1973. The' annual V Remembrance' Day Service will be held in Holy- rood hall andis in charge of Mrs. Frank Maulden, Mrs. Lyman Sut- ton, Miss Edna Boyle. Mrs. P. A. Murray rreported--011.the Institute__ display at the LucknoW Fall Fair, which was placed third.. Mrs. Jack Scott reported on the display aritipley Fair, which received 2nd prize. The President., on,be- half of the Institute , expressed thanks to those who set up the -diffilays at the fairs and to all who contributed baking or other artic- les. At this meeting there was a white (iced) cup cake contest with Mrs. Art Haldenby and Mrs. Don McCosh judges. Priz,s went- to Miss Edna Boyle and Mrs. P.A. Murray. Mrs. Jack-Sr ott gave_a_standing committee report on Citizenship and World Affairs and read an article on things that are „manufac- tured in Canada and other ',lades. Education and Cultural Activit- ies on Folk Music was given by ,Mrs. Frank Maidden. The_roll call added, a touch of humour with verses from an autograph album. Mrs. Howard Harris gave. a splend id motto "Learn to laugh with peeple not at-theme", Mrs. P. A, Murray introduced' the guest speaker, Mrs. Harvey Houston, Federated Womens Institutes of Ontario Public Rela- tions Officer. She brought greet-, and expressed her pleasUre in ings from the Provincial Board being invited to this Public Relations me_ S_he_StreS - the importance of each' member knowing her hand book. One should always, when asked to take a part , sayvthat•yon will try. It is' upto each member to build up the branch membership'. One lady present was a mem- ber of the local library. She encouraged other members to take advantage of youth book • Week, Many programs are avail- blc let us-take advantage 1of them. She closed with a humorous poem. The meeting opened with the Ode and the Mary•Stew- art Collect 7 Mrs. Lorne Eadie read the' finaneial statement and the communications. Bills were presented and paid.. Mrs. Lyman .Sutton, Mrs. Frank Maulden. and. Mrs. 'Jack Scott were appointed to go to the Rally at Ailenford, on •Thursday', Octob- er 19th. Mrs. P. VA. Murray and 'Mrs, Frank Maulden are the dele- gates to the Area Convention at Wiarton On October 30th • and 31st. The Briice County Histor- ical Society banquet will be held in Tiverton on Thursday, Octob- er .26th. The Curator from here to• attend is Mrs. Dan McInnes: .• . •AMBERLEYNEWS Mts. George Witteveen and little daughter Rbsemary left by plane on Saturday.to spend three weeks visiting with relatives in Holland. Her chapel length-+-erl of silk-illusion was ' held by a pearl and sequin crown headpiece and her flowers were yellow roses and stephanotis. The bride's, and the flower girl's Y. groom was flower girl. Her dress Was similar-to the bride's and she carried yellow and bronze mums. .
