JOSEPH. CONLEY

The death of Joseph Conley of
and District Hospital on Thursday,
October 5 from. pneumonia .
• ,,Mr. Conley, who was in his
89th year was born in Kinloss
Township on February 29th, 1884
a son of James' and Ann Jane
Conley,
In .1908 he married Mary Ann
Thompson of Holypod. They
farmed in Kinloss until going to ,
Saskatchewan in 1914 .where he
homesteaded for five years , and
then moved back to Kinloss.
Some 25 years ago,Mr. and
Mrs. Conley moved to Lucknow ,
where Mr. Conley ran the Express
• -
Business, retiring_about 5 1/2
years ago.
. Mrs. Conley passed away in
1952.
Mr. Conley was honoured on
the occasion of his 88th birthday
t-a-family.supper_andAiNial ev-
ening held in Langside Commun-
ity Hall.
He is survived by four sons,
James of Durham ,'Ivan and
Eugene of Lucknow , Len of St.
Marys and one daughter, Mrs.
Ron (Agnes) McLellancl-of-Lore1
burn, Saskatchewan; seventeen
grandchildren and sixteen great.
grandchildren; three sisters Mrs.

Mark (Polly) Johnston of Lticlutow
and Mrs. Annie Wall of Biucelea

at MacKenzie Memorial Chapel,
Lucknow on Saturday , October
7th. • Rev. Robert Nicholls of
Lucknow United Church was min-
ister.
Interment was in Greenhill--
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Mervin Con-
ley , Douglas Conley,, Mac Con-
ley., Roydon Conley , 'Ross Marsh-
4, all, Willard Seigner.

After the minutes were read
and confirmed, Council passed a
motion. appealing the decision of
Bruce County Council apportion-
ing the County Rates, the xeason •
being that it is not correctly based
upon the present full grarket val-
ue \of lands, in local municipalities
and in Bruce County: and that it
be amended to correspond with the
new market value being. compiled
by the Grey-Bruce Assessment
Office.
The petition signed by ratepay-
ers on the Conley Drain improve-
ment was accepted. This was
asking that theriver portion on
this watershed not be touched.
This decision was made providing
the-road-doesnit-flood.Ayhen,tlle._,
clean out is made.
The clerk was instructed to ord-
era room for the Good Roads
Convention.
