week they titled it "The Hender
Sun:" in honour of Paul. Tom
gave the paper to Kelvin Hender-
son of Ripley, Paul's uncle.

The Ripley .and -District Lions
club, newly formed this year',
have made their first move to
'community betterment a notice-
able one. Last Wednesday John
Loomis• of the Royal and Howard
Hodge , garage operator were iri
Toronto where , on behalf of the
Lions Club, they purchased a new
electric time clock. It will be
installed in the Ripley Diamond
JUbilee arena on October 20.
he rink is so named because-it-
was built in the fall of 1927 - the
year of Canada's 60th anniversary
or Diamond Jubilee. Hence it
was the first metal rink in this.

was a busy spot last Thursday

functions at the same time. The
Ripley-Huron Legion Auxiliary,
with\President Mrs. Bill Danforth,
held their October Meeting, in the
club roam. She gave a report
of the Zone meeting. In the
,main hall a bridal shower was
held, for-Miss-Nanc-y--Colling by
members• of the Coiling families
and their relatives.

The oldest lady at the recent.
Ripley-Huron fall fair was Mrs.
George Henry at 91 years, and the
oldest gentleman was William
Farrell of the 10th concession
west 'in Huron Township.

Mr. and Mrs. Duncan Thorburn
of Amberley and Mrs, Bette Mac-
Leild of concession four east in
Hinon township recently return-
ed from a motor tour vacation
through the Northeastern. United'
States and the Canadian Maritim-
es. The trip covered over 3200,
miles across Vermont , New Bruns-
wick, Nova Scotia , Prince Edward
Island as well as Quebec and ont-
ado. In Nova Scotia they called
on Mr, Neil McCombie at Stel1=-:
arton. They visited many places
of geographic and historic interest
on their 'trip. "

Ontario Dairy Princess Sherry
Pollock officially opened the
Teeswater fall fair. The cere-
mony was held in the arena on
Friday evening.. On Saturday

then later was in the Ontario Milk
,Marketing Board booth iri the
arena where shehanded out sam-
ples of cheese. Along with Sherityl
were Miss Huron County and Miss
Grey County Princesses on Satur-
day afternoon.

Twenty-one students from 'Bruce
and Peet h Counties- left Walkerton
on July 9 and returned two weeks
later from British Columbia.
Dianne represented the Ripley
