However, one of the major problems that has shown up has been the corros- ion of any galvanized) steel sur- faCe that is exposed to either the acid treated grain or to the acid vapours that devlop, during the initial storage period. Early tests to combat the problem indicated, that simple paint systems would not resist the effects of the acid. Recently, results were announc- ed of a detailed series of tests conducted at the University of Guelph to evaluate a number of different coating systems for the, interior of galvanized steel stor- age bins. These tests concluded that one of the best and most practical solutions was to coat the. metal surface with a high build chlorinated rubber coating ap- plied- over a polyolefin primer. This material may be sprayed or brushed on. Prior to application, it' is. nee- essavy to clean the steel surfaces of all oils, greases, dirt, rust, etc., to ensure good adhesion of the primer. Two coats of primer are applied followed by one finish or lining coat. The cost of mater- ials (psimer and lining costs) for circular eerbins----y-hinfary=from- 21/2 to 4 cents per bushel! of cap- acity. - One company currently m eking this material available is Inter- national Paints.(Canada) Limit- ed, P.O. This companies ro- tradename y tective Lining Primer" for the polyolefin primer and "Interchlor Protective-Whitefor the clorin- ated rubber surface or lining coat The company's directions should be followed carefully in the application of these 'materials. P. Lautenslager of Guelph. We have copies of his talk available at. Walkerton. One noteworthy feature of this public- ation is that Dr. Lautenslager states the drugs which are ef- fective and those which are not for each different parasite. " gives rise to the problem , owing w a s r fecting your sheep. One analysis of manure samples by your vet- erinarian will save the expense of treating your sheep( for a type of parasite they don't hatie. WATERLOO BOAR SALES, The Waterloo Swine Test.
