The high school at Ripley has
experienced successive drops in
enrolment until this year it is at a
low of 95 pupils. The results are
'empty classrooms, other facilities
not used to their capacities and
an increase in per-pupil, educa-
tion costs to about 400/0 above the
county's $1',080 average.

A two-car collision on the 12th
of Ashfield just west of the Luck-
now -Dungannon road , about 4
p.m. on Wednesday of last ,week
resulted in Miner injuries to those
involved.
Mrs. Lulu Anderson, '77 a
resident on the 12th 'on the former
William Hunter farm now owned
Appointed To New y e erome anti was Pio-
ceeding west, in her car,fol;owing
a school bus which dropped off

farm, where he is living.
Shelly and Dawn Wraith, daugh-
ters of Mr. and Mrs. Rod Wraith
of WingliaM, were expected to be
released from Wingham Hospital
the middle of this week.
They were hospitalized after
Ang-,Itruck by-a-car_while_
coming home from school on Fri-
day noon last week.
Shelly is 5 and- is in kindergart-
en and Dawn, 8, is in grade 3 at
Wingham Public School. The
children were running along the
edge of Stutter Street-in Wingham
on their way home. It was rain-
ing and Mrs. Jack Gorrie of Wing-
ham was bringing a load of child-
rell-bOtne_ltom_school when she
struck the Wraith, ehildren from
behind. She was travelling slowly
at the time or the children would
no-doubt have been more seriously
injured. The accident happened
just a fter the car had come over
the railway tracks on that street.
Shelly had concussion., bruises
and scrapes while Dawn received
bruises and scrapes.
Their parents are fOrmer Luck-
now residents. Rod Wraith is the
son-of Mr, and Misr jack Wraith
Of Lucknow and Mrs. Wraith is the
former Suter , daughter of
jvirs, Elizabeth Suter, formerly of

, The board proposed that senior
classes from the, elementary
school be moved into vacant
rooms'in the high school. The
two school buildings are on the

apart minimizing administra-
tion problems. ,
-The-nriajor reason for -1101LT
in high sChOol enrolment at Ripley
is/that an increasing number of
students are opting for commer-
cial and technical courses the
number increasing to 105 from
69 in two terms. These students
are bused to Wingham Secondary
School in Huron County.
It is thought that by next term
an addition to the high school:in
Kincardine ,-about 10 miles from
Ripley will be completed and
'the vocationaLsubjectsimill be
available there. '
The change should reduce per-
pupil costs for secondary educa-
tion at Ripley ,,according to J. L.
