The news-. paper policy is that all letters must be signed and the name of the writer appear in the paper. This policy has been in effect for some time. If'the writer, or writers would' care to sign these letters, they will be.print- ed . Att THAT Kinloss Recreation Commit- tee is attempting to interest and ,aoquaint its residents with the sport of roller skating and is sponsoring free skating' at the Lucknow arena this. Thursday, August ,17 from 8.30 to 10.30. Township• residents are urged to turn out for this special "Kinloss night". THAT an attempt is being made to organize night school for Lucknow and surrounding area this Fall and Winter. All that is needed to-make night school a reality is enough people inter- ested in attending. If you are interested , advise Mrs. George Whitby in lucknow immediately. Boys, softball, with 3 townships and the town of Lucknow involved , have 18 teams playing. Claience-Doherty-is-in-eharge this will commence short- ly: Girls softball,, with Jim Boak in charge has '7 teams involved. Mrs .. Barry Hackett secretar y of Ashfield Recreation Committee, has a group of young girls enjoy - ing 2 hours'of fun at BrookSide School once a week. ,The young- est of this group is 5 years old, • and as many as 19 have particip- ated at one time. The gills play volleyball, crab soccer ;baseball, badminton, table tennis, and are now doing crafts. Each week the girls themselves plan their activ- ities for the following-Week mail ing use of the equiptnent at Brookside School. A first for Ashfield this "year is a summer school at Kingsbridge Sehool for grade school children. Ann Dalton , a Grade XILstudent. at Goderich District-Collegiate Institute volunteered to give ex- tra tutoring to 12 pupils. Each child receives 6 hours of iitdivid- ual week. Ann puts in p4 hours. per Swimming has been continued in Goderich for the 3rd year, with 83 children taking adyantageof this opportunity. • Children are transported with 2 buses from Montgomery Islutms. With a swimming pool in Lucknow next year this will not• be ' necessary again. •The committee appreciates the co-operation of the parents in siipetvising on the buses. Special thanks also to coaches and umpires of ball , earns, par' eats and children, and a11 Who have helped to make this a suc- cessful summer.
