The Lucknow Sentinel, 1972-08-16, Page 14are perhaps somewhat behind these
modern times.' Now here in Can-,
ada we all know that Clarence
Campbell is the mightiest of all
Campbells. Just ask Pierre Elliott
Trudeau, Robert Stanfield, Wil-
liam Davis and the whole
pea picking, vote gathering
bunch of politicians - they may
think that they. represent Canada
but the aforesaid Mr. Clarence
Campbell represents the N.H.L.
and that carries weight these
days. This is just an observat'n •
no offence meant to the. Clan
Campbell.

A new grain handling facility
has been built in Huron Township.
It is Mike Snobelen's.grain drying
plant on the fourth concession
west in. Huron, on his farm almost
across the road from the Verdun '
School now operated by John
Inglis as a repair shop for his
heavy machinery. Considering
all this wet weather Mike's new
P lant is timely.

On' Saturday the need for' the
Ripley village scales was once
more in demand and town fore-
man Ambrose Gamble was kept
busy weighing loads of grain.
Nearby George Harkness and Don
Reid have the old large wooden
grain, elevator, once operated' by
the late Rory Manyn of Ripley
and his son Eugene Martyn now
dismantled this past week. There
just remains the clean up of the
foundation. Back in the
when grain was brought into Rip-
ley by horse drawn wagons it
stored hundreds,of thousands of
bushels /for shipment on the rail-
way. last year even the station
was torn down.
