George Whitby accepted the position. of Scout Leader in Luck- now and was, assisted by Elmer MacKenzie and Stuart Jamieson. , Scouting in Lucknow had been 'in- active since SCoutmaster Stuart Collyer tendered his resignation the previous fall, after serving for thirteen years. 30 YEARS AGO APRIL 1942 Prime Minister MacKenzie King outlined details-of-the na tional selective service plan under which farmers., farmer's sons and agricultural workers were exempt from compulsory military training unless they were' not essential•to farm produotion. Bridge; Managers, Mac- Lean Johnstone and James Mac - Kendrick. Dies At AgeA5 After. Long Illness•: PAUL S. CAESAR Paul S. Caesar, a resident of Ashfield Township, died at Wing- ham and District Hospital on Mon- day , July 24th following a lOng illness. He was 45 years of age. Paul was born in Ashfield on July 9th, 1927, a son of the late William H. Caesar and Luella Ryan. On September 12, 1951, he was married at Erskine . Preibiferian Chiaa to the former -- Joyce Stewart of Port Albert. Besides carrying on his farming duties, he was assessor for Ash- field from 1955 to 1970 when he joined the staff of the Ontario Department of Municipal Affairs in Goderich. • In lune of 1970, he passed his examinations to be- come a member of the Institute of Municipal Assessors. He was a director of the West Wawanosh Fire Insurance Company for a number of years and was a past president of the company. Paul was a past master of Morning Star Lodge , A.F. and A.M. No. 309, Carlow. • The body rested at the family residence Ashfield until.Thurs- day , July 27th, at 2 p.m. , when service was conducted at St. Pauls Anglican Church, Dungan- non, of which he was a member. Arthur_Enneral Home, Auburn, was in charge. Rev. R. -Odendahl wars Minister , Mrs. Tom Pritchard organist and music was provided by the church choir. Burial was . Flower bearers were a niece Pat Anderson and nephews, Randy, Blair and Kent Alton, John Ander- son, Steve Caesar, Murray Adam, Mark Stewart. Besides his wife, the former Joyce Stewart, he' is survived by 'three sons, Gary , David and Stew- art, all at home; sisters Mrs. Gordon (Madeline) Anderson, R. -7 Lucknow (Donanne) Adams of Whitechurch; ag brothers Donald of Whitechurch , Bill and Jack of-Dungannon. Died At St . Jatobs--- Miss Elizabeth J. Mac Kenzie passed away at the :Heritage Con-, . valescent Home , St. Jacbos on Monday August 7 in 'her 87th year. ° .
