WHITECHURCH NEWS
The United Church United
Church Women held their Picnic
at Riverside Park on Tuesday Aug -
ust 1st with an attendance of 9
and 2 children. One contest was
the making of a hat from'a sheet
of newspaper. The judge of
hats was Mrs. Ben McClenaghan
with the winner being Mrs. Fred
Tiffin.
After a pot luck dinner all
went to Brookhaven Nursing
Home. Mrs. Milian Moore gave
readings from School Readers,.
and• gave two contests. Mrs.
Elwood Groskorth gave a reading.
Mrs. Garnet Farrier had charge
of the worship service with Mrs.
George Thompson giving the
meditation. Old time hymns
were sung. Mrs. Milian Moore
closed with prayer.
The pa tients were then visited
and given, treats of cookies and
candy.

CWL
The August St. Augustine C. W.
L. meeting was held in the Parish
Hall with eight members present
On August 1st. Father Dentiriger
opened the meeting with the
League prayer.
Roll call was taken by Mrs.
Jerry VanAaken. The ,corre's-
pondence was readincluding
tha nk you letters from Mrs. St.
Marie and Mrs. Wm. Redmond.
Plans were discussed to go on a
rims trip in Angust ,to visit the
Shrine of Our Blessed Lady. Fur-
ther notice will appear in the
Sunday bulletin. It was also,
decided to get supplies for the
hall kitchen.
Father Dentinger gave a very
interesting talk on prayer.
The meeting was adjourned by
Mrs. Joe Finleon and closed with
the League Prayer. Lunch was
served by the Hostess in charge.
The next meeting will be Sept-
ember 5.
South Kinloss"
W.M.S.
The August meeting of South
Kinloss W.M.S. was held At the
home of Mrs. Fraser MacKinnon.
The president , Mrs. Danald Mac-
Intyre , opened the meeting by
reading of a poem entitled "Time
for Living". Psalm 19 was sung
and the Lord's Prayer repeated in
unison.
The Bible Study , John, 6 , was
dealt with by Mrs. Sparks with a
question and answer period.
Hymn '161 was sung, followed by
the offering with the offertory
prayer by Mrs. Harold Austin.
A summary of the Glad Tidings
news was outlined by Mrs. Ira .

A film was shown by Mrs. Jack
Needham "Drumbeat to
Dialogue", telling of new chang-
es in Africa. Christianity is
coming to Africa as something'
foreign, but it is growing in
Africa. The church communic-
ates through schools. The Prayer'
Circle followed with Mrs. D. L.
MacKinnon, Mrs. Herb Buckton
and Mrs. Wm. MacIntyre taking
part.
Courtesy remarks were given by
Mrs. Wm. Machityre.
Hymn 701 was sung and the
closing prayer was' by Mrs. Wm.
macIntyre.
Lunch was served ,by the hostess
and directors Mrs. Jack Needham
and Mrs. Wm. MacIntyre.
