Change In Hydro Rates
) EFFECTIVE OCT013ER 1st, 1972 BILLING
Owing to increased costs to the Lucknow Hydro System for
poWer supplied by Ontario Hydro, materials and supplies used in
line construction, operation and maintenance, expansion and
growth, salaries and wages, it has become necessary to increase
the hydro rates to you, the customer. The new rates will become
effective on all bills issued 'on and after October 1st, 1972.
You-have-our assurance that-we-will continue to fight rising
costs to the best of our ability through efficiency ^and good man-
agement. And you can expect us to receive top value from each
dollar spent' on your behalf. We are determined to maintain elec-
trical service as the best bargain in the family budget.
NEW MONTHLY RATES TO RESIDENTIAL CUSTOMERS:
- KILOWATT HOUR — KWH COST PER KWH
First SO KWH 2.9c
Next 200 KWH 1.5c
Next 500 KWH only to those with a Hydro
approved water heater , 0.9c
All additional KWH 1.15c
Minimum Billing $2.50 per month
House Heating if metered separately 1.15c
The above, rates are NET and subject to a •5% late payment
charge.

Review Fun, Activity of Quarter Century

July 29th, 19-72 will long be
remembered at Purple GroVe as
• the day the Women's Institute cel
ebrated its 25th Anniversary in
the Community Centre.. It was
a. real homecomipg for many and
a day of pleasanf fissociations for
others. The program of the day
wa,s in charge of the President ,
Mrs. Francis Boyle. After wel-
coming everyone , she called on
—mrs.,-1Atm- J. Arnold, Curator
to give the historical sketch:
The first meeting was held at the
home of Mrs. T. E. Morgan on
January'14 , 194'7 with Mrs. Don
McCosh as President and Mrs.
Harvie Thompson as secretary and
Mrs. Sam Emers9n as treasurer.
Charter members who attended
this meeting, were Miss Margaret
Robertson, Mrs. Claude Dore,
Mrs. Sam Emerson, Mrs. Geo.
S; Emerson, Mrs. Don McCosh,
Miss Annie Wall, Mrs. Howard
Thompson, Mrs. Clarke Need-
ham, Mrs. Ben Scott , Mrs. Harv-:

Mary Robertson, an early Club
leader.
The main program was'in the
form of a playlet with 13 mem-
bers and 3 former members' tak-
ing part. They were• Mrs. John .
Emerson of Lucknow who played
and sang and had been pianist for
many years, Mrs. Clarke Need-
ham of Kincardine who read an
original poem composed,
by-her-self and Mr-s-W-m:-Meln
nis who entertained with hurnOur-
ous readings when a member at
the Grove and to-day read 'The
Old Wooden Tub"..
Mrs. Burton Collins, an early
secretary , read highlights of the
1947 minutes. 'Mrs. Jas. Kirk-. '
patrick, District President brought
greetings. Mrs. Francis Boyle led
in a sing-song and also conducted
a contest on past presidents and
secretaries. Mrs.' George Hark-
neSs was pianist for' the day.
An In Memoriam was conducted
by Mrs. Burton Collins in memory
of Mrs. Geo. A. Emerson, Miss
Lizzie Wall, MiSs Annie Wall,
al local births, weddings, parties
and dances.
A highlight of the playlet was
cutting of the Anniversary cake,
This had been made by Mrs.
tiarvie Thompson and decorated
by Mrs. Howard Thompson and
both looked and tasted good as all
can vouch who later sa , edit.

At the close of the playlet,
Mrs. Boyle thanked all the corn-
rriittees who had made the day
such a success. Invitations were

kay , Mrs. Don McCosh, Mrs.
Earl Elliott with"program in
charge of Mrs. Wm. Arnold , Mrs.
Burton Collins and Mrs. Howard
Thompson. Mrs. George Hark-
ness providing the script for the
playlet. Mrs. Don Reid, Mrs.
Don Robertson and Mrs. Don Gil-
lies•served a 'delicious smorgas-
bord supper. Folks were reluctant
to go home. Mr's. 'Mileham of
Georgetown, better known as.
Yvonne Morgan, thanked the
Purple Grove ladies for making
such a happy event possible. This
was heartily ,endorsed by otherS.
Many returned for the evening
and were joined 'by others to
dance to the music'of Norman

This jolly party wa,s in charge of
Mrs. Victor Gawley, Mrs. Harvie
Thompson and Mrs. Morley Scott.
A lunch and social time closed
a very happy day.

At our meetings there were Anne ,
Gladys, Wanda and Katherine , •
Nettie , Margaret ;Agnes, Largret,
Marion, Helen. and everyone.
This is: just to mention a few
Of loyal ladies, there was Quite a

The wealth of knowledge that was
gained .
We always seemed so grateful;
But forgot it all when lunch was
served ,
