THAT Lucknow Fire Department
responded 'to two fire calls last
week. On 'Thursday morning , a
grass fire behind the residence
of A. E. McKim -at the south
outskirts of the village, was ex-
tinguished and on Friday after-
' noon firemen were called to a
car fire on the county road,
south of Kinlough. 4 volkswagr
en, belonging to Mr. and Mrs. '
Ralph. Hill of. R. R. 3 Ripley,.
was destroyed_ by. fite.. The it,,e-t
hick took fire on the highway.
No other car was involved.
THAT about $800 was raised at a
benefit dance for Mr. 'and Mrs.
Cecil Garniss and family last
week end. They lost their /
home and all possessions.* 'fire.
Mr. and Mrs. Garniss have ob-
tained living accommodation
in the Rider home on standpipe
hill, formerly occupied by Mr.
and Mrs. Albert -Morton aril Mr.

inpatient in Wingham and Dist ,
rict HospitaL Keane cratk-
ed a bone in his leg above the
knee in a fall last Friday even-
ing. The accident happened on
Stauffer Street as he was walk-
ing to .the Garniss Benefit at the
Legion Hall.
