The annual, meeting of the
lachnow Women's Institute was
held in the' assembly room of the
Town Hall on April 14th at 6.30
pl. Following the s.ingingOf
the Institute Grace the members
at clown to a delicious pot luck
supper after which the members
exchanged gifts with their Sun-
shine Sisters.
The, business part of the meet-
ing was opened with the Institute
odean dMary Stewart Collect and
tbe roll call was the paying of
fees. A lovely clock was donat .-
edto the Institute rooms by past
resident, Mrs. Alex MacNay and
past secretary-treasurer , Mrs.
john Campbell.
The minutes of the March meet-
ing were read and adopted. Cor-
respondence included an invita -
tion to a tea at Brucelea Haven on
May 4th,„2.30 - 5.00 p. m. and
-9p.m. Achievement Ddy
of the 4-H Club girls is to be
held on June 3rd at Lucknow,.
he Distriet annual meeting is to
beheld in Teeswater, , May 16th.

Mrs. George. Whitby reported
on the District Directors meeting.
The minutes of the last annual
meeting were then read and the
reports were given by the differ-
ent'committees .. It was moved
.by Mrs. W. F. MacDonald and
seconded by Mrs. Wm. Helm that
all reports be adopted as read. •A
summary of the year's work was
given by the presidenr lrs.., Alex
MacNay. Mrs. O. Brooks then
presented Mrs. Alex
MacNay with a Federated Wom-
en's Institute of Canada pin from
the .Lucknow Women's Institute as
a token,of appreciation for the
years of her presidency, from
which she is retiring.
Mrs. J. L. MacMillan then
took over for the election of
officers, and Mrs. John Campbell
was appointed secretary for the
election. S.

AFTERMATH pF "REACH FOR
THE TOP"
On April 14, five students, of
, accompanied by"a
teacher, began their trek to
Waterloo 'Lutheran University for
a day.
Reuben Burnett , our Geography
teacher, who-obtained-his, degree
from the aforementioned univer-
sity was the chauffeur for the
members of R.D.H.S.'s "Reach
for the Top" team which consist-
ed of Richard Rooney, Sherry
Pollock, Beverley Smith,
Bill Bissonneite and CarmOn
Courtney the scorekeeper.
Upon arriving and enjoying
coffee-and doughnut , all-stud
ents who had participated in the
weekly CKNX program divided
into such interest groups as
English, Philosophy, Music ,
Geography, Psychology or Econ—
omics: A banquet was held in
the mezzanine which gave.every
one a chance to mix With the

1..30 in the lecture hall, the 'group
received a talk On the film course
at_the university by_th_e andio7
visual professor who had made
films in Europe. Dr. Tombs, the
renowned archaeology professor
at Waterloo Lutheran University ,
delivered, an oratory on his pro-
fession. This was followed by a
film about a local archaeological
excavation produced at the
university.
A tour, was then conducted to
view the' residences, the bookstore
the library, several administra-
tive offices and laboratories; the
chapel ,'the 'students' building
and the student lounges.
Professors and administrative -•
officials at this small, .but mod-
ern university were very ,friendly
and not at all distant, The day
spent was in itself a valuable
educational experience.
GEORGIAN COLLEGE -
On April .18 , Levels Four and
Five learned more about furthering
their education at Georgian
College. Georgian has expanded
to include a 'campus in Owen.
Sound. Mr. Herron, the program
cd-ordinator of/the new Owen
Sound campus, described the _
Technology branch and the need
in industry for technicians and
technologists'. • Did you realize
that a technologist is a graduate
of the tWo year programme while
a technician is from the three'
year course? Miss Lindon, head
of the Business Section, talked
about the GeneratBusiness and
General Secretarial courses offer-
ed at Owen Sound. During the
open question period , Mr. Herron
adVised all students to be aware
of the-job potential after .gradua
tion.

picked. Mary Ellen Havens led
campfire. •A thank-you is oqend-
ed to Mrs. Jack Mc Kim for corn-
ing to test her. The Meeting ww,
