Bert had been a patient there since Christmas. The funeral service was held on Sunday afternoon, February 6, with Rev. ,George Ball in'charge, at the McLennan-McCreath. Fun- eial Home with temporary entombment at the ,Ripleyem- etery Chapel. Surviving are his vile Marion, daughter Bonnie, Mrs: Angus McIntyre of Ripley, and son Bill of Kincardine, one sister Bessie ,. and two broth'ets- Walter and ,Hartley also two grandchildren. Members of the Ripley Oddfellows Lodge Number 287 held a service' at the funeral home on Saturday evening. After attending to the minutes and•accounts, a discussion result- ed in the decision to invite tO or more interested people from - Ripley to 'one' of the Lions meet ings, to see if they are sufficient- ly interested in forming a Lions Club in their community 7 It was decided to hold 'Farmers Night Friday, March 3 with Bob Carbert as guest speaker, the meeting to 'be held in die Town Hall with lunch to follow. • Lion Phil Leahy introduted the guest speaker , B,ob,Robertsbn, chief accountant at Stanley- Berry , Winghanr, He showed a film on the last scheduled C.N.R. .steam-engine run from Belleville to Sterling and return. He alsO spoke briefly on his hobby of model railroading. ' Mrs. Thorn is the former Rose- mary Miller, daughter of the late John Miller and Barbara Wallace of West ,Wawanosh , where she was born on February 4th; 1882. In September 1911 she married Edward Thorn. They lived the greater part of their life ; in the St. 'Helen's area and moving to Lucknow a ntmber of years ago, sold their farm. 'Mr. Thorn pas- sed away in 1959. Mrs. Thom enjoys good health, is quite active attending the U. C , , Women's Institute and Town and Counvy Club and en- joyed a holiday in Florida this' past Christmas with mernbers of , her farinly.
