The February meeting of Unit

parlour oi February 1 with Mrs.
E. W. Rice presiding and thiiteen
members and one visitor present.
Mrs. Wesley Ritthie, pianist,
played hymns before the meeting
and opened with singing Hymn 7.
The devotions were in charge of
Mrs. 'Al:Irwin. Mrs. McCulloch
read the Scripture, psalm 138, and
Mrs'. Irwin led in prayer.,
Mrs. 'Wesley Ritchie gave a -
.reading, "The seed Of Faith" with
Mrs..1rwin giving the topic , "God
is the meaning of 'Life".
• Several articles for the layette
donation were brought and
displayed and the ladies were ask-
ed to bring quilt blocks size 18 x
20 inches to the next meeting. A
finance project was discussed and
it was decided that each member
give 10 cents a week for the year
with this money to be credited'
with the collections to each, in the
annual report. '
The programs for 1972-73 were
given out and much appreciation
for preparing same is due Mrs.
Bryce Elliott.
Several ladies offered to visit
sick and shut-ins during the year. ,
Mrs...Vernon Hunter was. named to
Ilre-npmmatarrg,co-nmilttee.
The roll call was answered by
a news item on Africa.- 'Mrs. Rice
closed the meeting, with a poem,.
"See it through", followed by
hymn 214 and prayer..
Mrs. Nicholls invited the ladies
to'the manse for lunch. This was
followed by'Rev. and Mrs. •Nich-
olls giving the members a trim 'of
the Manse ,,which was apprec'ia'ted
by all.

The RDIIS girls basketball
teams journeyed to Chesley on

had been formerly postponed be-

the following day,a 'widespread
blizzard„ the worst so far this
year, .necessitated the cancelling
of classes,at RDIIS and most other
schools in the area..
.Ripley Junior girls were stormed

'Senior girls scoring with 14 points

Despite the adverse weather
conditions Saturday , February 5 ,
the Darwin Pollock BOnspiel wept
on as scheduled,, The only con-
sequence of the.storm was the
fact that the two draws went on
the ice hour late,. Although
-it 2.30 p.m, before. the sec-
ond draw ate , everyone, enjoyed

EXAMINATIONS

RDHS since second term examina-
tions, which count double the
first terni, are due to start on
March 2. Now'spread out over
five days, instead of four, and
enConipassing a week end, it has
provided students with more time
to 'study individual subjects be-
tween examinations.
JR. BdYS' BASKETBALL
The junior boys, under Mr.
Brown's coaching, have had
trouble in the scoring division this
season. They dropped their sea-
son opener to Saugeen 'by an 88 -
24 score. The team journeyed

to Walkerton, where they were
upset by an 87 7- 21 count: Ches-
ley upset the t.eatii 83 - 25
score on their home Court. .The
