FESTIVAL •
This is the new name for the
public speaking contest held an-
nually at our school, This con-•
test was held on Wednesday, Jan-
uary 2G. There were five cont-
estants. The results were, Lise
Gunby first with a speech on the
Destruction of Pompeii. Second
prize was given to Janet
Farrish with a speech: on the storm
of last" winter. Joan Hackett won
third prize with a 'speech ona
visit to British Columbia. Judges
were Mrs. M. Wilson of the teach
ing staff. here , Rev. R. Nich-
olls of Lucknow and Mrs. J. W,
Wallace of GOderich. The public
speaking contest' was sponsored by
the Ontario Public School Trust-
ees' Association. and Ontarib
Hydro.
ASSEMBLY.
On Friday, January.28, ROom
Ten had an assembly. They start-
ed with 0 Canada , the Bible-read-
ing and the Lord's Prayer. They
had songs 'like "Snowbird" and
Old Women', along with some
folk dances and square danees.

which was well done.: The .
assembly:ended with "God Save..
Our Queen"... 'Mr. MacLennan,
