Bob MaeNay, owner of the store spent his days, and most of the nights too, serving the motorists who were,eilher stranded or had the misfortune ,of, leaving the road in-the midst , of the storm:', At one time, Fri- day night cars werelined up, on '• Highway 21 below Ainberleylrom „the curve in the, road at Jacklin. Farms down to the farm of Gord- on Boyd.. A truck, with a load of lettuce on its way to Kincar- dthe, went partly 'off the-road into the ditch, holding up traffic. After some time the truck was pulled out and was able/to go on, no' one knowing if that lettuce would be on its way to bei frozen or not! • - so:returned 'to the shelter of the •. lake area again. Sunday morning services at Pine River United Church were also cancelled because of weath- er conditions. ZION Trinity Youth Group held a Polka dance party on Saturday evening in Zion Orange This gave the niembers an oppor- tunity to learn the Polka steps among their own group. About 22 were present and report a good time. With the'heavy drifting snow during the week end rural school's were closed on Monday due to. road conditions. Trinity Church service on Sunday was also can- celled. ASSISTING GRANT CHISHOLM • Jim Hunter is assisting Grant Chisholm With' delivering Sunoco fuel. Billchisholm has returned to Toronto to resume his studies at Humber College after being laid up 'with burns to his face and hands inflicted during the fire at. Arnold's stote. Kirkland on Thursday.: Mrs. Ward attended the funeral of her 'uncle , the, late Harvey Trel-,- eaven of London, Miss Elva Ritchie, student nurse in training in R.N.A: Course in Wingham Hospital spent the week end at her home. • Miss Brenda Ritchie 'student in Owen Sound hospital spent . the week end at a winter sport's centre north of Owen Sound, where the'student. nurses were' taken by bus for a week end of relaxation. Brenda has spent the past two oieeks.doing ward nursing at South ampton hospital. Attending surrounding hospitals is included in their training schedule. sion.
