CANADIAN'FARM. BUILDING
PLANNING SERVICE '
Back m the early 1950's the
Canadian Farm Building Planning
Service was organized. It was de
signed to make .available to farm-
ers all, across 'Canada, plans for
the construction of all ` types of
production buildings and related,
structures , and equipment; through•
the support of, our own, :Ontario:
Department• of ' Agri•culture. and
Food, These plans are, • available
to any .farmer,free-gf.,,,cbarge,
through. any of the county offices.
The Plan Service is set up in
'such •a way. that there is . a con-
tinual review and up=dating pro-
cess. going ion for 'all plans. Just
veryrecently, the C.F,B.P.S.. has
revised and up -dated its Hog
•Housing Series. New_ plans- for
everything from farrowing. houses
to .loading chutes are • now avail-
able to, everyone interested in''in
formation of this type. In'addition,.
of course, plans. are available..for
facilities for Dairy, Beef, Sheep,
Grain -Storage; etc; Don't °hesitate -4
to make use of this service if you
feel it could be of any' help. .

very little is said about' declining
feed conversion rates as hogs get
heavier::. Farmers : whofinish•,
cattle are very aware of this: slow-
down in feed ,conversion, but what
of hogs?
- ow State has doa sou,e work
on this, and their results area as.
•follows::4.4 lbs.' of feed per pound
of -gain. in the weight .. range • bet
ween -.180 and • 190 lbs.. with :an

Example, they found • it took 4:7 -
lbs. -of feed per pound of gain 'in
the 210 to 220. lb's... weight 'range.
With current. high feed' prices,
it would be . difficult to justify
taking hogs. to heevier.'weights..•
