The meeting" opened. 'With prayer by Rev. B. Penny. The reports from Committees on\ what is being done for the retard- ed were given.' For the Silver Circle School, Mrs: Langridge reported that 12 retarded and hand . " icapped children up to the age of '5 years attend two morn ngs/a Week. This requires an equal• number of volunteers'as: there has to be a volunteer for each child. .Mrs. D. McPherson is the leader. Four of the volunteer teachers.• have taken the course for. teach ing nursery school for trainable re- tarded children.. The 'children , • are given special. exercises • and • • stimulation for learnin and ";social experiences:. '• It has shown th the children. are improving by these: experiences and also the mothers have a half day to therm- selves knowing that the children' are in good :hands. • Volunteer drivers or the parents bring the c 1 • ren to t e sc o0 for recreation for the retarded: As chairman of this' committee she arranges for .the facilities and • for the volunteer help'.needed for the programs.. Nine children from the Golden Circle School `skate 2 afternoon each°week•'during• the winter , this program has called for the assistance of many volunteers. . Now most of the children can skate on their own' 'and 3 have received beginners badges having 'passed the skating tests given by Mrs. Wild:.
