GRADE•ONE• '
'On Monday. November 16 we
.went on a trip to Kincardine. The
Grade Two, class went•w•ith us.
Werode on a big bus and soon
we were at Kincardine..
• First, we went to, the Fireball.'.
The • Fire -Chef showed us the fire
trucks and equipment . ,We liked
the oxygen .mask..
Next ,. we visited the Police
Station.. We liked seeing the
Police Chief, the jail, -and'
the cruiser: • , ' ••
We visited the Hospital last. ;
The nurses took us on a tour
around the Hospital. Then the
nurses gave us hot chocolate
before we started home:
We had fun on..our trip.
GRADE~ TIIREE
Last 'Tuesday the Grade Three
pupils•went on a field trip. Our•
first stop was l.lilra,y Pa nis at

We toured' the Silverwood _ Dairy
at Lucknow.
At 2 p.m. the bus arrived at
the CKNX .Studios in Wingham ...
The class was welcomed by Anna
Myer on her show.
While driving back :we saw the
Porter Christmas decorations.
Potty -lone tired pupils returned to
'.'Ripley-:at73.30 p.m.
TEACHER.OF THE WEEK
Mrs. Devitt' has given us a
Ii tle inforrination on where she
went 'to school and where she
taught school. :She herself went
to school' in 'New Dundee. Mrs. A
Devitt had half of her high school
years. in New Dundee and the
other half in Lorne _Park '
Collegiate in 'Port Credit: She
went to Teachers' College at.
Stratford. ; Her teachers in 'Grades
Qfle;and ,Tw'o encouraged her to
be a teacher. She fihds getting.
'her work done time consuming
but very enjoyable.' She has. .

SHE WAS NEVER A DAY WELL
It' is a great thing_ to•enjoy good
health and to boasta body that
reflects it. A minister candidating
for a pulpit on one occasion
was criticized toy a'nurse in the
congregation on the -grounds that,
he was too pale. "He ought to
change his,v'itamin pills, 'she'
. said', "his 'haemoglobin is. down.
"There are. a few people Who
rather enjoy being sick or, at
last ," imagining they are. ,
,ce"went picking elderberries in
the Fall with an old man from 'my
eongregatiori..On the way home
I stopped to visit another old man
living near by who had been
quite ill. My companion and.
neighbor went in with me,' We
enquired for the old man's health,
and then my friend ventured to
suggest to his wife that she had'
been a"fortunate woman to possess
such a robust body at' her time of
life. I shuddered at his remark
knowing thatyou couldn't insult:
the old woman worse'than•ai'''sug-
gesr'that she h'ad a healthy body..
She .turned .to him with.disgust •
written' upon her. face.
"That's al1 you know about,y.our
:neighbors.,":she cried,` "I' -might-

When' we returned to the, car,

DREADFUL LITTLE'ANIMAL

• One dark spooky night,: seven,
children went ma cook -out..
'Billy lit the fire. Thenall the
rest started roasting, 'Wieners 'and
openingpop: The, ate a•w hole
package 'of• enormous not -dogs.
They also .drank 'four bottles of
pop each. • All at once.' a' dark ,tiny
shadow appeared in the bushes..
It was a skunk. Oh, how' surprised
they 'were') Children dropped
heir hot-dogs a rid—a sl'ied
The furry black,skunk had, a'
feast. He ate all the wieners' ••
that fell in the ju.trble. He spil-
led all the. pop in the _fire so' that
it went out— The .children return-
ed the next afternoon and found
only the wrapping -paper, there -
:mains of the.fire and the dreadful
odour -0,-06 furry lilac -k a:nin al,.,
