Ripley volleyball teams started
off the_ year_ With_ hair-=xising
!games.. On' Wednesday•afternoon
the boys opened.their season .
against the overconfident. Kincar-
dine lads. Kincardine , with all
kinds; of muscle , counted on an
easy victory. As the rvfirst game.
got under. ways the Riplerteaw
knew . they would have to play ,
hard. They were rewarded w•WWth
a victory. But Kincardine carne
back hard in the second game. It
.was 'a sea -saw battle, First
Ripleywas/ahead!. Then Kincar-
dine was ahead! Time after time
Ripley returned John Laviock's
hard spikes:, • The Ripley boys
performed..many spectacular plays
but were _narrowly defeated.
The third game was' the decid-
ing encounter.. Kincardine lost
their "cool" ..: Ripley poured on
the pressure! We won the game
by a awo -or three point margin
If this game is an example of
the season to come we can be
assured of some fantastic 'Volley-
ball matches'.

Next Saturday, October. 17 the
students of RDHS may be found,
somewhere_betweenRipley and
Kincardine . The something will •
begin.at 10:30 and will involve
a ,twenty-two mile' treck from
Ripley to. Kincardine and back.
Our objective is to raise ,funds for
the Canadian Cancer. Society 'and
our own Student's Council. Stud-
ents will be canvassing for support
so let's back those walkers.
