'You can al mos trnagine a tired .looking man over his morning coffee, saying. with ayawn as he opens the.new- paper , "I wonder who is on strike today." 'Why should we have so. Many strikes? is it so. impossible forpeople to sit down and work big their difficulties? 'It seems that-there-•are-•r-nany people who are .willing'to be .heroic about .' man thin s But'.in the area of fantile thinking. In fact children seem better able to cope with similar situations in: their exper - ' ience ' Both union and. management seem capable of adult behaviour but when' it. comes to sorting'out their contract , both sides lose .their ability to react. on a 'human'and rational level. On the Other side of the table, there is, talk of inflation and re- sponsible economic activity. There was, a strike. a, few years ago in a small town (pop. '7.00). Three brothers worked 'at this' plant. One of them broke the picket line and went to work, bringing on himself the disdain and ;bitterness of those on the .picket line.
