The May meeting of Reids
Corners Women's. Institute was
held on Wednesday evening May
20.. There was an attendance of
twenty-two
The meeting opened!

roll, call "Bring an article for the
green thumb table and describe •
itscare" was interesting.
. The secretary -treasurer Mrs,
Cecil Humphrey read the
...correspondence and gave the,
treasurer's report. Mrs. Eldon
Bradley gave a good report of the
Officer's Conference; which was
held recently at Guelph." She
also mentioned a trip to the Adel-
aide Hoodless Horne at St. Georg&
and returning from the Officer's
Conference called at_ the Borg
factory at. Elmira where rugs
• .were .displayed arid purchased by
the Institute Members. • A sing
song_ followed
Mrs. ,John A, McDonald introd-.
uced the guest speaker; ',Mrs
Frank-Fair-of-Ripley, a .former
residenrof-the second. concession '
of .Huron and who is a °garden
enthusiast.- She gave an interesting,
address on "Garden design" and
lawn planning.. She Mentioned.,•
that gardens do not happen, . It
takes a.great deal of work to
bring a garden -t Etre point
where it is a joy to behold. In
conclusion she: quoted froth the
littre pater "'We are near -e to=-
God- in a garden than anywhere
else,on earth". Mrs.. Fair: was
thanked 'by Mrs. Eldon Bradley
