Wednesday, April 29 in Toronto.. For 38 years he was.stationed: in ' Fbrmosa and came out of retire- ment in 1964 to become head of -the churches -800 ; U -O -9 -r -embers: When he was a student•at Knox College in the ,1920's ,.his en- thusiasm for missionary work was so' great that his fellow •schol. ars collected enough money to send, h im. to •Taipei ; Formosa's. capital, where he. became 'head of the theological college and , an associate founder,of the Tai-. wan Leprosy Relief Association; When World War II began, he was attending a youth conference with Chinese and Japanese stud- ents in "Amsterdam He..returned *to Canada and was one of the most effective voices in prevent, ing a planned deportation of;Jap ' anese=be;rn-C nadi-ans: Fluent in both. Japanese and Chinese,, he was. later sent .to . • Washington to prepare. R. ,(Ruth) Lewis of,Prince George , B. C. and son Alex of Toronto;; brothers, Dr. Clarence MacMillan of Toronto and Ross • MacMillan of Lucknow.
