years. Aside from medical work;
she worked in the training, of

13oard of Examiners. As well as'
regular nursing training,, she en-
deavoured"to. see that ecumenical
training was also given.
She was involved with Mission
oarwor mg in entra n• ta.
She translated original books into
Hindi and in`particular book on
Pediatrics and Midwifery.. She
encouraged the building of a post
,l4rac uat:e school for nurses in In.
dore and had the honour of .laying
the corner. stone'in 1964,.
She returned to Canada in 1064
and .worked in.Queen. Charlotte
Islands and the Hazelton Mission
Hospital's in ,British Columbia for
a year -And a half .before: retiring
in. Toronto with her sister, ,Dr,
Jean Whittier.
Dr. Jean Whittier was born in
Upper Rawden, Nova Scotia and, •
had her education in medicine at
Dalhousie University. . She inter=,
ned in Toronto and after three
years service at the Maritime
home for Girls: she was appointed
:for work in India, in 1934. Here
she has, spent 32 years in the
medical Work •i.n'Centra I d•
She worked for short periods in
Neemuch , I,ndore and: Ratiani.
but it is the Banswara hospital
which claimed .most of her ser_'
vice:' Her Chief interest has been
mothers and babies and ,many
will remember her warm -hearted:
concern.•
