Candle and, the. resultant .floods ; •
came' through.:Virginia.' ;,Our imm-
ediate locality was fortunately
spa red though we were
cut off
from the, northern part •of Virginia
by, the, flooded .Jarnes river.; for
:several days We had our .grand-
daughter Jacqueline visiting. us at
the time and we had to keep. her
a few days longer than We planned,
'for -we ° could -not-get throe h' -to

Chari'ottesvflle until'the` flood .
subsided. Several churches in
the extreme` northwest corner of •
our Presbytery were darnaged' by
,the flood. In fact one church'
was so completely demolished
that not one fragment .of the
church has• been found
