NY CHANGES ALONG MAIN STREET!
Several weeks ago, a former resident of this communitydropped
into The Sentinel officeand in our discussion mention was made of the
many changes which had .occurred amongmain street businesses over
-the, past few years. •
Through death, retirement and -moving on' to hew challenges,
the faces along the main street have changed considerably during . re-
cent times.
It -Is encouraging to see -that m er._men• are willing to

to ask4he. bepartment of Highways.
to raise, the percent of Road grants.
from 60 to 70%. due• to increased
maintenance involved regarding
extra roads in subdivisions.

where, local : can' buy, their needs' at` the right price. At one
time,, a. senseof yalty. to :your home community' automatically,
' :broughtcustomers to your door but it is becoming increasingly evi-
dent thatunless you have the, goods and., service today, you won't at-
tract your neat door neighbour..
We had occasion last week, while on a business :trip • to Toronto,
to"'call:' to_ Visit a friend in a small, community such as ours. It' -was our
"first 'visit there and we were amazed at what we found: A village about,
the size of Lucknow, about 1000, looking 'like it was dying on, the spot.
The' places of business were badly behind the times: and we cme: home•
