Bob Campbell and Bob Gilchrist
were 'appointed to represent the
Society. at a 4i:rectors' leadership
school at Mitchell.
Oliver McCharles announced
that past presidents Gordon.
Kirkland and Evan Keith would be.
presented with service diplomas
in recognition: of their service to
'the. Lucknow Agricultural Society..'
Allan Miller 'made the•presentation.
In accepting;. Gordon. Kirkland
said that it was 33 years ago this
spring when' he came to,tucknow.
from the Teeswater areaand that
1 or 2. years later he attended his
first meeting: of the. Lucknow
Agricultural Society, and was
promptly 'madea•director. ,:He
said. that Mrs: Jake Hunter and
Mrs. Walter Alton., both present

Keith stated, that .Gordon
Kirkland had been instrumental
in getting' him .interested:: in the
Lucknow Fair. He. said that the
Fair, for a ntimber.of years,' liad
experienced tough going with
partial prize.money being paid on
occasion; . He"made 'reference.to
an upward swing in. the Fair' in,
more recent' years and was hopeful

changes made in the slate :of '—
associate directors .and in the
responsibilities of these • people at
the Fain,. Judges for thee, 1969 Fair
were arranged for, •
lt.was decided that the society
would investigate the possiblity{of
acting as host to a, classroom of
city -children who might wish to
attend a country Fair. •
A lady'from- Ashfield, who
wished .to remain anonymous, off-
ered to, donate a prize for a class
•which would see a contest in'
harnessing and •.unharnessing a '. e
horse. The society' agreed ,to add
the. class to the ' Fair. ' .
Because of lack of entries, it
was decided to eliminatehe dairy
cattle section .in the. -f iir prize list..
