met on Thursday evening of last
week in the Sunday School Room, of
Pine River :United Church with an,
attendance of nineteen.. After the
opening exercises the roll call.

It'was decided to hold the Christ-
mas meeting on.. Monday evening,
December 18. Women institute
meetings will -be held on Wednes
dayevenings in the future. .

guest speaker, :Mrs • George' Whitby
of Lucknow, 'who isPistrict Presi-Y
dent, chosefor her topic "Home
Economics and Health". She Ment-
ioned the Nursing Homes which
have been a great asset to the
communities where older people
are, being well cared for. A happy'
atmosphere exists among those .who
are able to partake in handicrafts
and'other, activities. With ,
reference to "Food" , it was stated,
that dieting is essential when one is
over weight , as heart trouble, high'
blood pressure and over eating may
be,the ;cause of much illness. Our
mental attitude also can play a
great part in our everyday -life.
Mrs:. Whitby was thanked and
presented 'with a gift'.

vention at Markdale .in October.
