At 100 years, Mrs. Smith is
remarkably well and takes a keen
interest in all around her. With the
aid of a magnifying glass, she
•reads the papers every day and she
still enjoys knitting. She enjoys ,
recalling the past and can remem
ber .clearly seeing Sir John A. Mac
Donald and Sir Wilfred Laurier. On

Smith of ,Port Arthur and moved to
Sault Ste. Marie in 1904 She spent
most of her married life there. Her
husband owned the Soo Flour, Feed
and Seed Company. Both were
active membert of St. Andrew's •
Presbyterian Church whichlater*,
became the United Chili:ChAbig
part of their life was their work in
the church. Although the Smiths
had no children of their own, they'
had a special place in the life of
her sister,(Laura), Mrs W.J. Arm-
strong.
Following the death of her hus
band, Mrs, Smith made her home
with her' sister and then with a
grandniece, Mrs, David Cassidy
of Bay Ridges. For the past year
she hid made her home with her
nephew Ernest Armstrong and his

Mrs, Smith represented Box -
Grove in the Markham Centennial
Parade this past summer e She is a
member of Box Grove United ••
Church and attends regularly. •
