Ashfield Township nompation •
peeing on Friday afternoon will

• record. Despite the quiet -meeting,
Ashfield now has a new Reeve, ,a
new Deputy -Reeve and one new ,
councillor. • ,
. The entire council and school
board members were elected by
acclamation for a two year term.,
After fourteen years'of service to
the township, 8 years on council
and 6 ,years as Reeve, -Donald Mac
Kenzie retired from office with
, his term expiring the end of this
year. Donald's long service as
councillor and Reeve fittingly
'came to a climax this year when
, • he was elected to the offite of
Centennial year, Warden ,

and ratepayers all expressed their

regret in losing Donald 'from•the
township board and paid tribute to
• his years of service.

would be an election for council •
but; befoig the deadline, Ross Eedy

received the acclamation.

School Area No. 2 board Congratul-
ated council on buying the school

teaching of French in elementary
schools was discusied.. Speaking of'
buses, Mr. Irvin.said that the
school board were presently
operating their 'Own buses for 34¢
per mile while the hired bus was
costing them 394 per mile, The
