Members and their families, .residents of the community, and. their ;families gathered in Whitechurch, CQnmmunity Memor ial Hall for family, night which is always celebrated with. a Pot. Luck Supper. The North• group of ladies were this year responsible for the set up of the supper which was xeally ,a banquet. --The president,' Mts. Bill Evans presided for the program and extended, warm words of welcome .to. all. The meeting opened with the singing of the Institute Ode and repeating in unison the Mary, •Stewart Collect,. The roll;call was answered by the men -Telling what: part of farm work should be done by the housewife.. Douglas' Thompson, :son of Mr. and Mrs, Arnold Thompson,' Wing - ham sang How Great' Thou Art,. accompanied by pianist; Mrs.. Nel- son Pickel. Accordion solos were given by Gordon Ross of Bluevale and in some numbers. he Was acc- ompanied by son Eric with; the -spoons::: A musical band played several numbers when .encored:. In the, band were Mrs. Elgin Johnston, Mrs.. Frank .Ross, Mrs, Jim ,Currie., Miss Mary Hehn, Mrs. George Walker, Mrs. Ed Walker, Mrs, Russel McGuire, Eric. Ross and' Mrs. Nelson,Pickel pianist and concluded singing Canada, ' Mil. Frank Ross addressed ;Mrs. Nelson Pickel who is leaving thea, cornrnun ty and im ving to. Teeswat- er Mrs. Elgin Johnston presented her withta gift from the .East group. Mrs. Pickel, taken by surprise, thanked the group for their kindness in thinking of her, Douglas Thompson sang "Some-. body Bigger Than You and I" acc-,. ompanied by pianist Mrs. Pickel, Charles Thompson gave'piano numbers: "Way Down South in Dixie' and "Carry Me Home*. John Gibb gave piano instrumentals "This Land is. Ours and "We ain't . Going .to. need this House". The guest speaker Mrs. Allan WEDNESDAY, NOV. 22nd, McGill of Winghaip,, introduced by Mrs',,. Bill: Evans, Showed,slides taken by Mr. and Mrs., McGill when they were on the tour tP New Zealand and Australia.
